What Is FFA?

  2. 2. <ul><li>FFA is a dynamic youth organization that is a part of agricultural education programs at middle and high schools. </li></ul>
  3. 3. The FFA Mission <ul><li>The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership , personal growth and career success through agricultural education.  </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>FFA is just one part out of three of a quality agriculture education program. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Classroom/Laboratory Instruction <ul><li>For us here at the Cape May Tech FFA Chapter that involves a lot more than just traditional book work. </li></ul>Testing the Dissolved Oxygen in the Bay by our Oyster Racks.

  7. 7. SAE: Supervised Agricultural Experience- Learning By Doing. <ul><li>A Supervised Agricultural Experience program (SAE) is a key component of agricultural education. While working on an SAE project, students learn to apply the concepts and principles taught in their agriculture classes to real-world problems and scenarios. A student selects an SAE project based on his or her interest in one of four areas. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Exploratory - Learn about the big picture of agriculture and its many related careers. <ul><li>This SAE program allows students to learn many different areas of agriculture by going out and interviewing and interning at different agricultural professions </li></ul>
  9. 9. Research/Experimentation and Analysis - Conduct research and analyze information to discover new knowledge. <ul><li>This SAE offers students the availability to research different agricultural pusuits, and develop ideas and plans of action for helping the agricultural field. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Ownership/Entrepreneurship - Plan and operate an agriculture-related business. <ul><li>This type of SAE allows FFA members to go out and own their own business. This SAE provides members the opportunity to sell their wares. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Placement - Work for a business or individual, either for pay or for the experience. <ul><li>This type of SAE is probably the most popular. This SAE is when a member goes out and works for an agribusiness. </li></ul>

  13. 13. How about a trip to Indianapolis, Indiana? <ul><li>Come out and participate in a Career Development Event, and you could win the right to attend National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in October! </li></ul>
