Ambrose Nathan and Guy Pain have worked together successfully in partnership in the UK before
Ambrose left to continue his career in industry in the Far East. They are currently working on
identifying possibilities for mutual cooperation and development of corporate advisory services given
the vast experience held by both of them.
It is believed that assistance can be provided to Brunei Darussalam in its Wawasan Brunei 2035
objectives by working with the Brunei Economic Development Board and other esteemed
organizations to stimulate business and growth in Brunei Darussalam.

Name AMBROSE NATHAN
Position Managing Consultant of BizAdvize Services Sdn Bhd
Biography After obtaining his Economics degree from the University of Wolverhampton, United
Kingdom he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and became a member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants, England & Wales. In 2010 he obtained his fellowship of
the Institute. He worked in various countries for the last 30 years including United Kingdom,
Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia. He was partner in a UK accountancy practice and held
directorships in a number of companies. He eventually branched out as a business
consultant and worked a number of years in corporatization, merger and acquisition roles
including acting as a receiver and liquidator whilst employed by Price Waterhouse, Malaysia.
He also served as the Finance Director of an oil palm refinery which became the second
biggest single refinery in Malaysia.
He has been involved in the security Industry for a total of 16 years in the capacity of
Finance Director, Regional Financial Controller in Asia based in Hong Kong. For 10 years as
the Country Manager and Director of G4S Secure Solutions Sdn Bhd where he built up
Brunei leading man security and cash management services provider and Brunei first secure

Biography A graduate from Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Prior to undertaking the degree, had been
working as an Account Assistant with Deloitte and Touche. After completing her degree,
she had worked as an Accountant in a retail company and soon after was offered to
pursue in a professional field in the insurance industry by the General Insurance
Association of Brunei in mid 2001. Towards the last quarter of 2002 joined G4S Secure
Solutions Sdn Bhd as the Finance Manager for 10 ½ years and assumed additional role in
heading the Cash Operations Recon Department in recent year for 2 years.
She jointly set up BizAdvize in 2012 and has been instrumental in the provision of
accounting services to leading private sector SMEs – both directly and through contracts
with the BEDB, iCentre and MIPR.

Position Consulting Partner of BizAdvize Services Sdn Bhd
Biography After obtaining his Economics degree from Kingston University, UK in 1986 he began
his career in a Chartered Accountancy practice in Chancery Lane, London. He moved
from practice, qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the ACCA and undertook Senior
Financial roles with leading organisations – including a Lloyd’s of London Managing
Agent and the London Ambulance Service.
He moved to Brunei Darussalam in 1998 to undertake the role of Director of Finance &
Administration for one of the Royal Family’s entities before returning to the UK to lead
the implementation of the London Ambulance Service’s Y2K project. In 2000 he
obtained his MBA from Manchester Business School, UK and migrated to New Zealand
with his family.
In New Zealand he undertook Senior Financial and Operational roles – including within
Supply Chain Management for Carter Holt Harvey (New Zealand’s largest company) and
within ICT Project Management for both leading Local Government bodies and as the
Consulting Manager for the New Zealand practice of Australia’s leading ICT vendor
(TechnologyOne).
He returned to Brunei Darussalam in 2009 as the Executive Director/CEO of Asia Inc
Forum and led the company through four business cycles – including the company’s
participation in the APEC CEO Summits in Singapore, USA and Russia as well as the
ASEAN 100 Leadership Forum with the country heads of Thailand, Malaysia and the
Philippines.
From late 2012, he has been Consulting Partner with BizAdvize as well as being the CFO
for an innovative, technology leading Engineering Start-up. Between April 2013 and
June 2015, he assisted the iCentre in an Advisor role.

Position Corporate Finance Consultant
Biography Guy obtained his Accountancy degree from Birmingham City University, United
Kingdom in 1981 and then entered into a training contract with Kidsons. He then
qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 and became a member of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He became a Fellow of the Institute in
1996 and gained the Corporate Finance qualification in 2006.
Guy was in partnership with Ambrose Nathan, Managing partner of BizAdvize, in a UK
accountancy practice and has spent the majority of his working life being involved with
Corporate Finance, advising domestic and international clients in many business
development areas. Between 1996 and 1998 he worked in industry as Group Finance
Director for an international hardware manufacturing group where he helped
restructure the group from a loss making situation into a highly profitable worldwide
operation with a manufacturing facility in the US and a new distribution operation in
Australia that also serviced the Far East markets.
Guy is currently a partner with a medium sized firm of Chartered Accountants based in
the Midlands, United Kingdom, where he is Corporate Finance partner, leading a team

Name PAUL HIRSCHFIELD
Position Regulatory Compliance Advisor
Biography Paul serves as a Consultant within the firm’s Private Client, Corporate, Civil Litigation
and Property practice grouping. Prior to working in Brunei, Paul had worked as an
academic whilst undertaking part-time practice work with a number of Barristers
Chambers and Law-Firms in England. Paul’s doctoral research involved an examination
of the legal and fiduciary implications arising from the process of utilizing Trust and
Trust-like instruments within Multi-Corporate Group structures. Prior to undertaking his
doctorate Paul was a part of the first cohort of LLM students at the University of
London to read International and Comparative Trusts Law, under the supervision of
Professor David Hayton and Professor Paul Matthews. He arrived in Brunei in 2000
upon the launch of the Brunei International Financial Centre and was the first applicant
to be successfully licensed by the Brunei International Finance Center to act as
Registered Agent and Licensed Trustee in conjunction with a private legal practice.
Paul undertakes work in a variety of fields, but maintains a primary interest in Private
Client Work. He has collaborated with a number of leading international firms in this
respect, including, Clifford Chance (New York and London), Charles Russell Solicitors,
(London), Baker and Mackenzie, Deacons (Hong Kong), Wikborg Rein & Co, Simmons
and Simmons, Maple and Calder (Cayman Islands). Paul undertakes drafting, and review
exercises in a range of fields and has undertaken assignments in corporate due
diligence, international commercial work (contentious and non-contentious),
