Toner is a powder that has application in photocopiers and laser printers to make images and form printed text images on the paper. In the early days, a mix of carbon powder, sugar and iron oxide was used which slowly changed in order to improve the quality of printout. Quality printouts were made by a process in which carbon was melt mixed with polymer. The toner particles are made to melt by the heat of the fuser that is then bound to the paper. Earlier, the user poured this low cost carbon into the reservoir with the help of the bottle in the machine. Now days, the modern machines feed directly from the sealed laser toner cartridge. The modern laser toner cartridges are proposed for use in printers and copiers that come in cyan, magenta, yellow and black i.e. CMYK.
