White Fused Mullite is a first quality refractory material, composed of massive crystals of mullite which are formed during cooling after fusion. It confers high melting point, excellent thermal stability, low reversible thermal expansion, low porosity, high resistance to thermal shock and chemical corrosion at high temperatures. In the sand casting industry, Fused Mullite can be used as special sand for core production. The use of this sand allows getting excellent surface properties, free of the veining defects typically produced by silica sand. Due to the high refractoriness, Fused Mullite is suitable for casting all type of metals and alloys. In the investment casting process, Fused Mullite is used as flour or stucco for shell building (first coats and back-ups). It is also recommended for the production of ceramic cores.
