PaaS (Platform as a Service)  Provide environment to allow for users to create their own web applications   Azure – Microsoft App Engine – Google   Force.com – SalesForce   Pros     Build and Run one application for Free RAD (rapid application development) Private or public deployment Cons  Build and Run one application for Free Limits developers to tools provided by the PaaS developer Risk of Vendor lock in

Iaas (Infrastructure as a Service)    Allow business to run whatever applications that the business has to a cloud supplier’s hardware Migrate applications to the suppliers hardware Physical or virtual servers   Virtualization – allow for suppliers to share physical servers Pros  Lower IT costs

IaaS Types  Private Cloud   Dedicated Hosting    Customer rents physical servers on demand Cost and numbers of servers matching their demand Hybrid Hosting   Most secure and costly Mix of physical and virtual servers are hosted on demand of the customer to reduce costs and increase flexibility Cloud Hosting  Customer rents virtual servers on demand and often on an hourly basis
