The Effectiveness of Technology in DEDone by: Shiekha AL-rashdi
First Study: Significant Difference• Study title: Teaching with ALN Technology: Benefits and Costs• Author: Kashy, D. A., Albertelli, G., Kashy, E., & Thoenne• Appear in the: Journal of Engineering Education, October 2001• Result:• "Even with higher course standards for success, student performance on examinations has improved, a larger fraction of students achieve the goals of the class, and the proportion of students who excel has increased. Female students benefit even more than their male counterparts. The level of communication and interaction among students has also increased dramatically, with mostly positive (but some negative)effects. Data concerning cost effectiveness indicate that the technology can reduce costs, but perhaps more importantly, it can increase the quality without increasing costs."
Second study: No SignificantDifference • Study title: Effects of the Hyper textual Approach Versus the Structured Approach on Students Achievement. • Author: Lanza, A. & Roselli, T. • Appear in the: Journal of Computer-Based Instruction • Result: Both groups performed equally well, but the hypertext group exhibited greater variability in achievement, prompting the conclusion that hypertext might be better suited to more able students."
