World water Day

  1. 1. World Water day is a day for people to show support and appreciate the fresh water (Non salty water) which is only 1% of the world water
  2. 2. When Water day happens? March 22th Is World water day since 1993 with new goals to achieve each year.
  3. 3. World water day goals for 2014 Many objectives have been set for the year 2014, a big one being to raise awareness of the inter-linkages between water and energy. Both are very closely interlinked and interdependent.
  4. 4. Water helps different energy sources to work Hydroelectric, nuclear and thermal energy sources require the use of water resources to help them generate. Equally, pumping, treating and transporting water to numerous consumers requires about 8% of the global energy generation.
  5. 5. Access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right, but it is not a fact in many parts of the world. Contaminated water causes 1.5 million deaths a year, 2.5 billion people live without basic sanitation and one in six people does not have access to clean water.
  6. 6. Polluted water isn’t just dirty—it’s deadly. Some 1.8 million people die every year of diarrheal diseases like cholera. Tens of millions of others are seriously sickened by a host of water-related ailments—many of which are easily preventable.
