TOURISM OVERSIGHT HISTORY• Original Oversight by a Chamber Tourism Committee • One lone nut got a follower……. • City created a Commission • 3 year contract for services with the Chamber followed • Monthly meetings • Twice yearly Council presentations/reporting • Renewed contract in 2018 for 5 years • Modified contract in 2019 • 6 meetings per year • Once yearly Council presentation/reporting
  4. 4. PRESENT SITUATION CONS • Lack of quorums could endanger the contract on a technicality • Unqualified or conflicted Commissioners can be appointed

PRESENT SITUATION PROS • Regular reporting prevents another movement • It also provides for regular internal checks • Commissioner engagement keeps a broader network of information sharing • We’ve been able to nurture a few Raving Fans • City engagement has built stronger relationships and leads to more partnerships
