Here we have a slide-share on conventions from professional magazines, which I will use throughout my magazine. In addition it consists of a draft layout/template on Front page, Contents and Double page spread.
2. The masthead – The boldness is very good here, as it has unique brand recognition
and everyone could tell that it’s that magazine and does etc… I would like to
incorporate this into my magazine, as brand recognition is very important and It
makes it clear what genre the magazine is.
The main article – its very clear and distinct who the main headline is, this is very
good as it shows the audience who is featuring and is decisive factor in whether the
audience will purchase the magazine
The lead on this magazine is very good, I plan on using
something like this as it shows the audience who and
what the main article is about, also the introductory line
gives a clear insight into what will consist in the
magazine. This again is a decisive factor in whether the
audience will actually buy the magazine.
All the conventions mentioned above I will look to
incorporate into my music magazine. They link very well
together and show a simplistic front cover, but also has a
clear and distinct brand image and articles used on the
articles. In addition, for my magazine I would have a
banner along the side to show what else will be in the
magazine.
The simplicity of the magazine cover (bottom left) is very
good, this is what I will look to aim for; but also look to
incorporate a lead which matches the background image
and as well as having a clear masthead which sets the
brand apart.

4. The use of a double page is good, as it
separates the different pages. Also uses a
range of pictures to show what the specific
article is, this is something I will
incorporate as it is better for the audience.
This would attract the audience as it
entices them by offering something free.
This contents page uses many things which I would like to incorporate into
my magazine; in particular, the separation of the pages and areas of the
magazine, such as reviews, albums and artists.
The use of image shows what the articles are about; also the page reference
to the image is very good. In addition I will use the idea of giving a bit of
information on the larger and more sellable articles in my magazine, as down
in billboard.

I have added the

adds a professional edge to

The reason behind this
is because it breaks the
magazine up, and easier
for the audience, like a
set of instructions.
Here I have added images
which relate to the contents –
this allows the audience to

6. This is the style of double page spread which I will incorporate into my magazine, as
from my focus group I gathered information that requested a higher amount of
image to text ratio.
Also the title of the article is very good, it’s clear and bold, then is followed by a
introductory paragraph which is something I will incorporate into my music
magazine.
It’s also important to have a colour scheme which doesn’t clash with the text
article, as you don’t want to ruin it. I will take this into account when creating my
magazine.
This style also suits my idea as, there isn’t a lot of text,
which I believe is good as it doesn’t distract or too long
for the audience.
The picture clearly indicates what the article is on, as
well as the clear heading of the article.
The texts used could be reduced as it can seem quite
long with some of the audience
