Alex Herbst Experience Eagle’s Landing Day Camp, Weather, Astronomy, and Pioneering Specialist (Summer 2013):  Prepared and executed lesson plans to educate children ages five through fifteen about weather, astronomy, and pioneering.  Taught skills such as cloud identification, weather systems, tornadoes and hurricanes, and general astronomy.  Classes ranged from three to twelve campers at a time.  Over 100 children reached over the course of eight weeks. Plymouth State University Student Senate, Grafton Hall Senator (2011-2012), Student Body Vice President (2012-2014), Student Body President (2014-2015): Responsibilities:  Developed a strong work ethic with being able to balance multiple projects at once.  Organized more than a dozen events sponsored by Student Government.  Served as an advocate for students rights and was the voice of the students representing greater than four thousand students to the University administration, faculty, and staff.  Served on half a dozen committees chaired by faculty and staff, providing student input and ideas for large-scale University projects.  Chaired two internal committees within the Student Senate, Communications (2012-2013) and Recruitment (2014-2015).  Provided dynamic and engaging presentations to key audiences including incoming first year students, commencement, convocation, and legislator visits. Outcomes:  Increased student voter turnout to record numbers, with greater than 600 students participating.  Tripled the number of active members in the PSU Student Senate over the spring semester.  Created and successfully executed the rollout of new Twitter account.  Increased follower base on social media to near 400 likes on Facebook and over 200 followers on Twitter.  Planned and organized over a dozen student events with over 100 students in attendance. PM Weather, Student Meteorologist (2014-2015):  Broadcast practicum course taught by Brendon Hoch at Plymouth State University.  Produced 5-minute television broadcast of weather conditions for central New Hampshire  Broadcasted on local access channel across ten towns surrounding Plymouth, New Hampshire, as well as in Concord, New Hampshire.  Responsible for forecasting, promoting, broadcasting, and editing at least once per week. American Meteorological Society, Secretary of PSU Chapter (2013-2014), President of PSU Chapter (2014-2015):  Created presentations for every chapter meeting to provide information to members.  Led fundraising efforts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for two years.  Organized and executed the attendance of Plymouth State University at the annual Northeastern Storm Conference.  Enforced rules and code of conduct for the organization and school while attending the Northeastern Storm Conference.  Planning expanded weather discussions for organization by meteorology students.  Managed the PSU American Meteorological Society Facebook and Twitter accounts for two years. Plymouth State University Advancement Office, Media Assistant (2013-2015):  Developed organization and strategy for rollout of social media plans and newsletter development.  Learned technology and software such as Adobe Photoshop, Constant Contact, and Google Drive. Plymouth State University Admissions, Admissions Representative (2012-2015):  Led tours of campus for prospective students and families, ranging from two to twenty individuals.  Communicated with prospective students through social media about various campus programs.  Spoken publicly in front of 400 to 700 people about my experiences at Plymouth State University. Plymouth State University Class of 2015, Treasurer (2013-2014), President (2014-2015):  Organized, prepared, presented, and managed a $5000 budget for the 2013-2014 school year.  Successfully planned and executed, along with a team of three other officers, half a dozen campus events with attendance of over 200 individuals.  Led the creation of a scholarship as a class gift to the University and solicited a donor to provide a matching gift.
