PublishingWith my magazine being aimed at young metal heads, my audience is broadly thesame as magazines such as Kerrang, which is distributed to be mainstream rather thanniche, therefore my product is likely to be distributed commercially to a larger, wideraudience by companies such a Bauer Media Group which also distribute magazines ofa similar genre to my media product. While the products distributed appeal to a moremainstream audience, they are also niche in terms of age (usually 15-25) andstereotypes.
  4. 4. Who would distribute? Bauer Media Group, which publish Kerrang! Magazine, along with Kerrang! Radio and Kerrang! TV channel broadcast and publicize the main rock/metal genre to their young target audience. By having such a vast selection of interactive mediaand social networking sites, the publishers sufficiently manage to reach Kerrang!s audience with the specialized content of the genre of music. By understanding the magazines audience, it allows the publishing company to produce new products they know will appeal and satisfy its readers. My media product is broadly similar to Kerrang! As it follows the forms and conventions of magazines in the same or similar genres of music and targets a similar audience. This would allow Bauer Media Group to apply distribution techniques from Kerrang! To my product. Although Bauer produce similar products, as well as others, it would only be beneficial to addanother similar product as this will contribute further to a diverse range of products.
  5. 5. Advertising my productProducts such as Kerrang! Are advertised through its corresponding TV channel, website, social networking sites (Facebook + Twitter), radio and Tour posters. This is a very effective way of advertising as these agents of advertising are very popular with its target audience age and their hobbies. Similarly with my product, its target audience is very much the same as Kerrang! Therefore the tactics of advertising stated above would also apply to my product. Using social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter would be the most effectivemethod of advertising my product as not only are they free, they allow my product to be exposed to a huge number of people.

Distributing my productWith my product being distributed to a larger mainstream audience, it would be suitable to distribute my magazine to popular stores such as HMV, WHSmiths, ASDA and other supermarkets, plus newsagents. I would also offer a subscription service which allowsthe latest issue of the magazine to be delivered by post as soon as it is released to keep loyal readers up to date and will allow them to own every issue. With Web 2.0 having emerged in recent years, this will allow me to advertise anddistribute my product online much easier and cheaper, such as via add ons to websites or pages of rock/metal clothing and music stores.
