Rationale <ul><li>Media- televisions specifically helps the general public in creating awareness to relevant issues, their perspectives and how will they adapt to the issues. </li></ul><ul><li>It is the main source of information either in local, national and international. </li></ul><ul><li>Media creates pictures in the minds of the audiences/viewers. </li></ul>

Rationale <ul><li>Framing refers to the process by which people develop a particular conceptualization of an issue or reorient their thinking about an issue. </li></ul><ul><li>Messages are framed positively and negatively. </li></ul><ul><li>Typology of frames have appeared to reoccur during science-related debates. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Objectives of the study <ul><li>Find out the coverage used in climate change stories </li></ul><ul><li>Analyze the frames used in presenting climate change stories </li></ul>

Scope and Limitations of the study <ul><li>limits only to the two leading national television in networks specifically ABS-CBN and GMA. </li></ul><ul><li>focuses on how the climate change messages are being framed in the mind of the viewers and what appeals are being used in telling stories to the general public </li></ul>
  7. 7. Time and Place of the Study <ul><li>will be conducted during the whole month of November 2011, in Brgy. Plaridel, Baybay City, Leyte at the place of the researcher </li></ul><ul><li>Researcher will continuously watch and record all the news both stations aired. </li></ul>

Theoretical Framework <ul><li>Framing Theory-an issue can be viewed from a variety of perspectives and be construed as having implications for multiple values or considerations </li></ul><ul><li>framing effects occur when (often small) changes in the presentation of an issue or an event produce (sometimes large) changes of opinion </li></ul>
  10. 10. Methodology <ul><li>will be conducted at Brgy. Plaridel, Baybay City, Leyte, the place of the researcher during the whole month of November 2011. </li></ul><ul><li>A content analysis of the climate change stories in ABS-CBN and GMA will be done regarding with their primetime news which is TV Patrol World in ABS-CBN and 24 Oras in GMA. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Methodology <ul><li>Climate change stories that are aired during the whole month of November 2011 will be watched and recorded simultaneously. If possible, the researcher will just download the whole episode aired during the whole month of November 2011 in both website of the stations. </li></ul>

The data will be coded in excel and will be uploaded in Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). </li></ul><ul><li>Intercoder Reliability Test-be used to evaluate the different characteristics of messages made by the different coders to reach for the same conclusion. </li></ul>
