  6. 6. SCCE Annual Report 2014 Page 1 1.0 INTRODUCTION The School of Computer and Communication Engineering was established on 30th April 2002. The School of Computer and Communication Engineering adheres to the philosophy that emphasizes the importance of setting up Coppermine integration of knowledge, skills and practices that make the concept a true appreciation of science. The foundations of knowledge combined with good values of life that intellectual culture can be fostered and digested to form a way of life that is dynamic, progressive and civilized. Based on the philosophy, the curriculum and programmes offered at the School of Computer and Communication Engineering are continually reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis by: o Taking into consideration the opinion, concluded the study results and feedback from the community, especially in industry. o Fulfilling the requirements of the professional advisory boards such as the Institute of Engineers Malaysia and Board of Engineers Malaysia. o Ensuring a balance of theory and practical expertise. o Ensuring that learning is always at world-class level. PROGRAMMES OFFERED:  Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)  Master of Science (Computer Engineering)  Master of Science (Communication Engineering)  Master of Science (Embedded System Design Engineering)  Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) (Computer Engineering)  Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) (Communication Engineering)  Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) (Computer Network Engineering)  Diploma in Computer Engineering The programmes provide students for their future career in the electronic and electrical and IT industries, academia, and government by providing outstanding environment and facilities for teaching, learning, and for research. The School places high priority on establishing and maintaining innovative research activities to enhance its education quality and make it relevant and competitive at regional, national and international level. Apart from that, the school also provides resources for discovering, integrating and applying new knowledge and technologies. SCCE has well-equipped and up-to-date laboratories equipments. These modern teaching laboratories provide extensive computer supported facilities for laboratory activities in such areas as computer programming, microprocessors, communication systems, antenna and microwaves, embedded systems, computer networks and various
  7. 7. SCCE Annual Report 2014 Page 2 branches of electronics. These laboratories are exploited at all stages of the course to support the lecture and tutorial program, and to provide up-to-date resources for projects based activities. The students are also exposed in industrial training for industrial exposure, through direct involvement with the related industrial sector and providing opportunities to companies to provide ‘necessary industrial exposure' for the students. The students are able to show their potential and hopefully the host company will be interested to employ them once they completed their study. 1.1 MISSION, VISION & SERVICE CHARTER Mission Realizing the aspirations of the nation and contributing towards technology advancement in computer and communications engineering Vision A world class academic and research centre in Computer and Communications Engineering SCCE Service Charter SCCE are committed to furnish services to our stakeholders with full of dedication, responsibility and sincerity - Provide high quality teaching, learning environment, services and resources that meet students’ needs. - Provide hospitality efficient and sincere services to all stakeholders - Be the academics that professionally active in their disciplines and to venture in research and knowledge development in their industry and discipline areas. - Respond to feedback and continually improved the services delivers to stakeholders.
