Account Set up <ul><li>Add a profile for a NEW domain; only add profile for existing domain if it already has an AdWords account under a different log-in/tracking code. </li></ul><ul><li>HTTP or HTTPS </li></ul><ul><li>Multiple web sites can be tracked using a single code/under a single Analytics account. </li></ul><ul><li>The Web Property ID ID# is what you need for tracking CCon activity. Point to the UA # with highlighter tool. </li></ul><ul><li>If you have another site to track, you’ll need the code under Paste This Code on your site Point to it using the highlighter tool. </li></ul><ul><li>Click Save and Finish </li></ul>www.google.com/analytics

    5. 5. Account Log in <ul><li>Wait 24 hrs. Google will only show data from the previous day! </li></ul><ul><li>Log in to Google Analytics </li></ul><ul><li>Lists site(s) you have set up. </li></ul><ul><li>Click on View Report. </li></ul>

System Dashboard <ul><li>High-level info on visitors over time. </li></ul><ul><li>Where those visitors are from & how they’re getting to your site. </li></ul><ul><li>Charts and graphs: Visitors over time; total # of visits; bounce rate; avg. time spent on site; % of new visitors. </li></ul><ul><li>Why would you care about this?—Google Analytics gives you data that marketing craves. Data that should be used by Alumni & Annual Giving Staff to make informed decisions. </li></ul>

Visitors Overview <ul><li>Visitors over time </li></ul><ul><li>Total # of visits </li></ul><ul><li>Bounce rate </li></ul><ul><li>Avg. time spent on site </li></ul><ul><li>% of new visitors. </li></ul><ul><li>Is your traffic coming from new visitors or is it just alumni returning to log in their profiles? </li></ul>

Screen Resolution <ul><li>I believe Agilon sets ONE to 1024x768 as the default. </li></ul><ul><li>Why is this important? </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t want to cut off images and text. </li></ul><ul><li>Most users will NOT use the horizontal scroll bar. </li></ul><ul><li>Know how much content is above the fold.-is your Give Now button up there? </li></ul>

Version of Flash <ul><li>Critical if you’re linking to a flash animation on your site—I know several of our clients are doing just that (from an email). </li></ul><ul><li>Most viewers have NOT upgraded to the latest version of flash—make sure you’ve optimized your site for this. </li></ul>
