Public school v private school

 1. 1. Public School v Private School In our documentary, we are looking at the difference between public and private schools and whether it has a determining effect on learning and ultimately who achieved the highest GCSE grades in 2010. We look at facilities, students and include interviews with teachers and students.
 2. 2. Public vs Private

Our main aim of the documentary is too compare the following:

Overall facilities such as classrooms, school facilities, uniform and teaching.

Further into our documentary we wanted to interviews with pupils who had been to Private and Public schools to discuss the differences. We also wanted to interview teachers to gain an insight on their thoughts of the education and the differences between the two

The purpose of the documentary was to see if Private School education has an determining effect in GCSE exams. To conclude we will present the statistics so the audience can discover if the education has effect on the results.

 3. 3. Form Of Documentary?

The form of the documentary will be participatory, mainly due to the participation of the documentary maker in the recording. The documentary maker will be involved asking interviewee questions and speaking on relevant topics during the video.

We will also include archive footage such as newspaper cuttings and GSCE results, also backing music to help the documentary flow and make it exciting and compelling.

 4. 4. How will it be different?

To make the documentary different and engaging we needed to make sure we filled the video with interesting interviews which didn’t drag on and make sure we compared facilities accurately and effectively.

Also the conclusion will help the audience remain engaged throughout due to the early and middle parts of the video will lead up to the conclusion of whether Private schooling is more beneficial to a student.

Also the documentary will not only target advanced age of audience it will also target student audiences who will be interested in their education and the differences between schools.

 5. 5. Roles of the group

In our group we organised specific roles however made this flexible so everyone could have a go at doing different things. Nick was assigned to the documentary maker who appears and features in the video and Meg was used in the interviews because she attended both schools therefore could offer an insight on the differences between the two. Anna and I would take on the roles of filming, editing and making sure schools know about us visiting eg. permission, appointments.
