  3. 3. YOU HAVE A MILLION QUESTIONS  How do I retain customers?  How do I promote the move?  How do I update my online listings?  I’m not sure if I even have online listings.  Do I have the budget to pull off a marketing strategy?
  4. 4. LET’S GET TO IT.
  5. 5. DEVELOP A RELOCATION MARKETING STRATEGY  What outlets are you going to update? What’s your main priority?  Make a calendar. When will you send an email? When will you plan a party?  Get your employees involved and spread the responsibility.

  7. 7. CREATE A DIRECT MAIL PIECE  Be innovative. Be creative.  It’s not just about relocating, it’s about unveiling your business.  It doesn’t need to be too fancy. A clever postcard does the job.
  8. 8. PLAY OFF THE WORD “UNVEILING…OR NOT”
  9. 9. PLAN A GRAND OPENING  Host a grand opening at the new office.  Free food + Free giveaways = Happy clients/customers  Use this opportunity to have fun, show off your new furniture, and most importantly, show appreciation to your customers.
  10. 10. NOTIFY LOCAL NETWORKING ORGANIZATIONS  Tell your local networking/leadership groups about the move.  Members can help you move, spread the word, and in some cases, they will feature you in their monthly newsletter.
  11. 11. ADD SOME PIZAZZ TO YOUR WEBSITE  Update your address and post an update about the move.  Take pictures. Lot’s of them.  Spruce up your portfolio.  Write silly bios for your staff.  If your website is outdated, consider investing in a new site.

  13. 13. UPDATE YOUR ONLINE LISTINGS  Do a quick search for your business on Google.  You might see tons of listings you’ve never heard of before, so start with Google Places, Yellow Pages, and Yelp.  Get your employees involved and start updating online outlets.
  14. 14. UPDATE PRINT MATERIAL  Make sure to update your address/phone number on print materials.  Business cards  Letterhead  Signage  Collateral
  15. 15. SEND AN EMAIL  Send an email to all of your contacts about the move.  Include an infographic about the growth of the business or create a video featuring the staff.  The email could also be an invite to the office party.  Have fun with it.
