FOREWORD
This visitor satisfaction 12-month barometer gives some highlights of VISITBRUSSELS online satisfaction survey
www.visitbrussels.be/qualitydestination, which is part of the Quality Scheme for Brussels tourism.
The survey is completed on a voluntary basis. Face-to-face interviews are also performed once in a while in touristic
areas of Brussels, at random.
Therefore, the survey does not at all pretend to be “scientific” or to be a true reflection of what all visitors think or
feel about our destination.
Nevertheless, we consider it is a useful tool for our future visitors, Brussels tourism professionals and public
authorities.
Because your appreciation and comments help us to create a world of real hospitality, your participation in this

émouvant sous la conduite du petit fils du sauveteur
de la maison. Visite de la Monnaie et de l'hôtel de
ville très intéressantes. Déambulation au fil des rues
et découverte de la grand place de nuit, magique.
Redevenir enfant en escaladant l'atomium
Bon, l'ascenseur de l'Atomium était en réparation
mais il faut bien faire ça un jour. Déçu par les églises
superbes à l'extérieur, banales à l'intérieur.

La saleté des trottoirs et le manque d'entretien du
mobilier urbain est catastrophique et digne d'un pays
du tiers monde. Trop de maisons abandonnées au
centre ville.

notre programme de visites avec plans et guides, et
nous avons pu réaliser ce que j'avais envisagé:
découvrir le coeur de la ville y compris l'Atomium.
C'était un premier contact, donc pas de temps pour
visiter des musées dont Magritte! Ce sera une
prochaine fois. Nous avons vu tous les monuments et
quartiers intéressants.
Nous (4pers) regrettons sincèrement d'avoir réservé
à l'avance le Brussels Card (pass musée-transport) car
peu utilisé pour les musées et n'est pas accepté dans
tous les musées. Donc dépense inutile. De plus, ce
pass n'est pas disponible à notre arrivée à la Gare du
Midi. Donc obligés d'aller à pieds sur la Grand Place,
au lieu d'aller directement à l'hôtel poser les
valise.Légère perturbation dans notre organisation. il
faut différencier pass transport et musées et le
rendre dispo dès notre arrivée. De plus, en cette
période de changement de celui-ci et les infos sur le
site internet ne sont pas claires. Ce pass -onéreux
quand même- est notre seul regret, si non la ville
parait accueillante.

places of interest were just closed till the 5th of
January. We were a little upset about it. And the
opening hours confused us a bit: from 10 to 6. We
are early birds, so we had nothing to do but have a

I had a bit of a problem when I lost myself in the
downright corner of the city and the time schedule of
the trams was a bit not-so-helpful. I missed my train
to Germany, but I was very happy to book a bus
ticket and I was on my way only 6 hours later.

a huge number of works going on at the same
time.Also,some city areas do not feel very safe ( eg

A further negative point is the lack of customer-
minded service,or lack thereof,in many stores.

service) as purchased 78 hour Brussels Card but
partly due to flight irregularity arrived one day late -
and was informed by Town Hall Tourism office
employee I could get no refund (ie instead a 48 hour
card) as it had been purchased online. I accepted,
naturally, but was faced with the inability to use
almost any needed public transportation due to New
Years celebrations and routes which did not operate
or city streets which were closed. In the end we were
only able to visit the Museum of Musical Instruments
(MIM) and received a discount at the Atomium - and
for this we paid 43 euros each. I realize this was a
special occasion but visitors should be informed
beforehand. :(

accueillant. Ville très agréable, où tout peut
finalement se faire à pied en 3-4 jours (nous avions
pris un pass transports en commun, que nous
n'avons pas utilisé : beaucoup plus agréable à pied,
et la ville n'est pas très étendue). Beaucoup de
plaisir à visiter des quartiers très différents (Sablon,
boutiques luxe, vieux quartiers et antiquaires etc).
L'ensemble n'a pas été très bon marché... dans la
moyenne haute des capitales européennes.

la gastronomie. La qualité de l'hébergement et les
petits plus pratiques comme la brussels cars.
J'ai par contre été déçu sur le plan du parking, en
effet j'avais appelé la veille de mon arrivée
interparking pour savoir s'il fallait réserver une place
dans le parking loi. On m'a répondu que ce n'était
pas nécessaire, or quand je suis arrivé le samedi
matin, le parking loi était fermé. J'ai donc du trouver
un autre parking, qui m'a coûté un peu plus cher. Et
on manquait d'information et de renseignements en
ville pour prendre le bus et le tramway.

21/12. Did not realise I had to queue for a ticket even
though I had a Brussels Card (in previous cities eg
Salzburg they simply scanned the card). The man
scanning the entry tickets snapped at me and
gestured abruptly to go and queue for a ticket - at
least that's what I gleaned, as I couldn't even figure
out if he was speaking French or Dutch, he spoke so
loudly and rapidly! Then when I had the ticket he
shouted at me again that I had to check in my coat.
When I got inside I discovered that the information
panels were only in Dutch and French! I went back to
the desk and asked if they had an English translation
(I thought they might have a typewritten handout or
something) The young bearded guy at the audio
guide counter said "No, there is none. We speak
French, so..." and just trailed off as if to say it was my
own fault. I heard a number of other native English
speakers in the museum, British, American and
Australian, so I doubt I was the only one struggling! I
bought the Brussels card, and I know I got "free"
entry but 12€ is a lot to pay to be treated so rudely
and left largely uninformed. I had been very much
looking forward to the visit beforehand.

and Dolce Amaro were both wonderful, food and
service. MIM was a great museum, and very much
enjoyed the art museum complex. Subway system is
one of the best ever experienced in terms of signage
and cleanliness. City overall is lovely, and the
average person is friendly and welcoming.
Overall, staff in museums are at best tolerant of
visitors - concept of "customer service" seems to
have not caught on in many places, although there
were some notable exceptions in better restaurants.
Perfect example would be MIM restaurant - never
able to order & left after being ignored for 30
minutes - a big let-down after viewing such a great
collection. Train station signage terrible and staff
actively unhelpful - impatient and brusque.

It was 2nd or 3rd of November, In the city centre we
went to eat moles and the star of turkish/moroccian
or other nationality first said we can't share moles
ration (we wanted to try but weren't hungry enough
to take one each) and was rude, then we waited like
30min before being served (restaurant wasn't that
busy) and the they said that we can't pay by the card,
when before other member staff said we can, at the
end of day we did. it was one of those restaurants in
tiny streets near Grand Place. Very disappointed,
won't come there back...

eerste keer een geleide rondleiding in het centrum
van Brussel geboekt voor onze leerlingen van het
zesde leerjaar lagere school. De gids en de
rondleiding waren super goed zodat we het dit jaar
opnieuw geboekt hebben, maar dit jaar was het heel
anders...!!!!
Op 17 oktober (in de namiddag) hebben wij de
historische rondleiding voor een groep van 10
kinderen ( 11 jaar )en twee begeleiders geboekt.
Hopende op dezelfde kwaliteit van vorig jaar,
kwamen wij jammer genoeg tot de conclusie dat de
dame absoluut niet gemotiveerd was en zeker aan
onze kinderen heel weinig heeft geleerd. (in Sint-
Hubertusgalerij aantal chocoladewinkels tellen,kijken
naar een etalage met speelgoed, voor een
taparestaurant halt houden, een blad met een
"doolhof" geven en de weg zoeken, een blad geven
en een menu laten opschrijven,...!!! Wij verwachten
dat de kinderen een legende van Manneke Pis,
Jeanneke Pis te horen krijgen, de kathedraal
bezoeken,uitleg bij het koninklijk paleis krijgen,...
Zelfs onze kinderen vonden de rondleiding
ondermaats ("die mevrouw stapt zo snel alsof ze ons

Belgian salami and cheese at Moeber Lambic (place
Fontainas). The chocolate museum is so interesting!
The luggage storage at the central station is very
useful. The Brussels Card is GREAT! We loved Mini-
Europe.

awful, there is no Free wifi, the breakfast is very very

and you can,t walk alone not even in the morning!
This hotel must be shut down, because they are
kidding people through their photos on the Internet!
Shame on them! We are really disapointed and can,t
wait to get back home!

Tour en men neemt dan de keuze voor
Nederlandstalig krijgt men ineens eens Franstalig

staff, very polite and helpful. The city is very
beautiful.
I'm really disappointed with the city in many
respects. I've already travelled for several European
contries and never felt so insecure as I did in
Brussels. For 3 times I was asked for money: at the
supermarket, in the Street and at the train station.
Moreover, the streets are quite dirty. But this is not
the worst: I was stolen!!! I left some luggages at the
locker located at Brussels Midi train station and
when I came back to pick them up 10 days later, it
was missing about 200€ in purchases, including
chocolates (that were gifts for my family and friends),

monday (29/09/2014). Because of this, I do not

manier, het is een schitterende stad. De glooiingen
maken het fietsen wel behoorlijk sportief. Dit kwam
weer goed uit gezien de copieuze en heerlijke lunch
bij Pei & Mei in de wijk Sablon. Schitterende glas-in-
lood ramen van de St. Michiel kathedraal. Een
overdaad aan historische gebouwen en een goede
sfeer. Zoveel te zien dat we Manneken Pis helemaal
zijn vergeten. Dus we moeten nog een keer terug.
Het aangeklampt worden in de Beenhouwersstraat
door de vele restauranthouders vond ik niet
aangenaam. De onduidelijke informatie bij het
fietsenverhuurstation van Villo en de reactie van
Villo wanneer je dat kenbaar maakt.

het restaurant en de toeristische dienst in kennis

Noch het hotel noch het restaurant rekenden
annulatie kosten aan. Voor de gids moest wel de
helft van het bedrag betaald worden
niettegenstaande de gidsbeurt verplaats werd. Op
verschillende mails kwam er geen reactie van de
toeristische dienst. Na telefonisch contact bleek dat
verschillende mails spoorloos waren,
niettegenstaande het antwoord een reply was. Is dat
de klantvriendelijkheid van Brussel, hoofdstad van
Europa?

visited for a daytrip Brussels. We didn´t informed us
about the city, because we wanted to go to the
tourist information center. We wanted to go into the
city by metro. So we drove to the P+R Roodebeek.
One kilometre ante the parking space we weren´t
allowed to drive to the parking space because of the
special day Brussels without cars. So we parked our
car and went to the metro station Roodebeek. When
we entered the station we haven´t seen any special
sign or something like this. Therefore we went to the
ticket automat and bought two day tickets for the
metro. After we paid a friendly woman told us that
we don´t have to pay. She said today the go by metro
is for-free. Unfortunately we had allready paid our
tickets. After this conversation we looked for a sign
which should indicate us about this information, but
we weren´t able to find something like this. After
this we went by metro until grand-central. Then we
looked for a ticket counter and found one. There
were two men sitting. We asked him, if it is fine to
talk english and he answered yes. So we told him
about the happening and asked if we could return
the tickets. He said we should use the ticket the next
day. Because of this we explained that we could only
visit the city for this day and therefore we don´t
needed a ticket for the next day. After this he just
shruged his shoulders and didn´t say anything. So we
tried to explain again we can´t use the ticket and
then he only answered at french. Because we don´t
speak french we wanted to go. After we turned he
began to speak much louder and sounded aggressive.
We don´t know if he really offended us, but we are
really sure. After this we wery very suprised about
this behavoiur and went to the tourist information

center. There we met a very friendly man. He told
us about we should go to the central station. So we
told him what was happened and he was kind of
upset. So he for the behavour of this men. He was
also very suprised that there were no signs about the
priceless going by metro and bus.He said he would
like to give us the money back but he can´t. So he
gave us this adress to contact. All after this we
went to your beautiful city and enjoined the day.
When we decided tr drive back home again we
wanted to look for some signs at another metro
station. We were at metro station Maalbeek. And
again we couldn´t find any hints for the free-going-
by-metro. The only thing we saw were two other
tourist. We noticed that they stand in front of the
ticket automat and talked about it. We explained
them, that they don´t need to buy a ticket. They also
didn´t knew this fact and were very happy we told
them. So we recognized that we were not the only
tourists who bought or wanted to buy a ticket. Then
we went to the rails and we looked up to the screen
about information for the ride. There we saw for the
first time that going by metro is for free. When I saw
this I thought: Why is this the only place for this
information can bee seen. Because you have to buy
the tickets at the beginning and not at the rails. And
why is this information not be presented in english? I
don´t think I would understand the message if it is
only presented in french or dutch. After this we
drove back home. Now I write to inform you about
this happening. And I also wanted to ask if it is
possible to return our tickets? I still got the tickets
and thew receipt of my payment. Shall I send the
tickets back to you or what will happen next?
Thanks for your answering. I would prefer an answer
written in german, but english would also be okay.

Au musée fin de siècle qui ferme hélas trop tôt

à 18h00 serait la bienvenue, surtout en été.

lot of fantastic places for beer lovers. Our favourite
ones were 'Braiserie de Lombard' and 'Moeder
Lambic'. We felt particularly welcome in Br.Lombard.
We were a bit disappointed about the cleanliness:
streets weren't so clean as expected, taking into
account we were in the Capital of Europe.

collected it we asked if it could be used for the town
hall balcony to view the flower carpet. It could not,
so we queued up and paid for the town hall
balcony,then when we realised that the city of
Brussels museum balcony also overlooked the flower
carpet and this was in the Brussels card (with a 1.50
euro supplement) we were cross that we hadn't been
given this information as the queue was very long for
the Town Hall, and we didn't need to pay the 5 euro.
The ti office on the Place Royal should have given us
this information.

"Brussels card" nous avons pu rayonné sur tout
Bruxelles avec visite de l’Atomium, le musée du
chocolat, le musée Magritte, le musée de la musique,
visite à pied de la ville... mais pas le temps de faire
tout ce que nous avions envisagé faute d'avoir
préparé correctement ce séjour par manque
d'information. En effet, je pensais recevoir la Card à
mon domicile avec les différentes brochures mais il
nous a fallu les récupérer à la gare du Midi en
arrivant et là pas facile de trouver l'office du touriste
dans cette gare où les informations ne sont pas très
bien indiquées.
LA GROSSE DÉCEPTION ! Le camping "A ciel ouvert"
situé à Ixelles. Il est HONTEUX pour une ville comme
Bruxelles d'avoir un camping de ce STANDING,
sanitaires dans un état de CRASSE, douches avec des
rideaux sales, les bacs à douche et les toilettes ne
sont pas nettoyés ou de façon très superficielle ! Lors
de notre séjour, des groupes de jeunes en camps de
vacances au vue de l'hygiène des lieux sont repartis
alors qu'ils devaient séjourner plusieurs jours ! Le
Jardin qui, d'après les publicités sur le net, est un
havre de paix en plein centre ville, est plutôt
assimilable à une décharge publique avec des gravas,
des tas de ferraille autour du terrain, des poubelles
débordantes de cadavres de bouteilles (il est vrai que
l'on pratique le tri sélectif dans ce camping) ... Je
possède des photos que je tiens à votre disposition.
Tout cela pour 30,00 € la nuit pour deux personnes à
payer EN ESPÈCES ! La seule chose positive, c'est
l'accueil de la jeune fille très sympathique, même si
elle n'a pas su gérer le manque d'eau chaude tout
une journée et qu'elle a attendu que tout le monde
se fâche pour réagir et appelé les "patrons" ! Je dois
préciser que le camping est PLEIN TOUS LES SOIRS
avec un va et vient tous les jours de touristes qui
partent et arrivent. Je vous laisse imaginer la
déception de tous ! Autre laïus, la propreté de vos
rues ! Nous avons trouvé que Bruxelles est sale !
Papiers, déchets partout dans les rues. Nous avons
séjourné, lors d'un voyage à vélo avec mon époux en
cyclotourisme en 2012, à GAND puis à BRUGES, où
nous avons trouvé des campings dignes de ce nom.
Je pense qu'il serait souhaitable que Bruxelles face
un effort de ce côté, tout le monde n'a pas les
moyens de se payer un hôtel !

street. The shops closed early and left by the 18 bags

excellent deal and allowed us to visit many museums
without feeling the need to stay 3 hours to get "our
money's worth". We were able to see a lot in a short
time. Special congrats to the manager of the Beer
Museum at "La Grande Place" He was very friendly
and fun.
Loved the city and the ambiance.

small cheese and sandwich shop that had the most
amazing products on 1st September. I also very much
enjoyed the Atomium.
Unfortunately, the exhibition at the Atomium was
closed when I visited on 1st September. It would've
been really great to have known that beforehand and
I would've come at a different date. The Magritte
and Fin de siècle Museums were very interesting,
however it was very cold in the exhibitions and I
ended up rushing through and not making the most
out of my visit because I'd left my coat in the locker.
It would be great to advise visitors of the low
temperature in the exhibition halls in the locker
room so you can take a coat or jacket. At the Musee
Horta I noticed that there seemed to be a whole half
of the house that wasn't open for visitors. Assuming
this was the servants' part of the house it would've
been terrific to be able to explore this and learn
more about the way Horta's family actually lived
here as servants were an integral part of daily life.
What's more, I felt that the focus of the exhibition
here was more on the design than on the
architecture. It would've been great to be able to
understand better how the rooms slot together and
everything is laid out using blueprints or any other
kind of information.

station ( near to Brussel's major tourist area) reeked
of urine. Food in the restaurant we ate in was
mediocre and overpriced. American tourists I met
were angry that they had been overcharged in a
restaurant. Shops near Bourse sold cheap goods at
inflated prices. When I asked for advice at the tourist
office near the Grand Place a bored and unhelpful
employee simply said, " well you could walk around,
there is a good view if you go to such-and-such a
place" - hardly informative. People I asked for
directions made no effort to help ( unlike France).
American and German tourists I spoke too thought
Brussels people were rude and ignorant.

om mee te maken. Het feest komt het meest overeen

Het was jammer dat tijdens ons bezoek (21-7 t/m
24/7) renovaties plaatsvonden aan een aantal
panden op de Grote Markt, waardoor de gevels e.d.
niet zichtbaar waren. Uiteraard is hiervoor wel
begrip, onderhoud en renovaties zijn nodig.

The hop on/hop off tour did not make it clear that
they follow a figure "8" route. I wanted to visit the
Atomium, but when we arrived at the end of the first
tour and asked to leave the bus, when we boarded
the next one we were not informed that it would
follow the same route as we did earlier. We therefor
never got to the Atomium!!

and beautiful city that is always enjoyable and
interesting to visit. I love Brussels and Belgium and
visit as often as possible.
It is incredibly difficult to navigate your way out of
the Zuid station. I wanted to walk north but found it
difficult to find my way to
Lemonnierlaan/Anspachlaan. There didn't appear to
be any useful directions. I did find my own way
eventually but simple signs for pedestrians to the city
centre would be useful, I feel.

Everyone we encounteted on the streets were super
friendly and we always had nice Brussels citizens
offering us directions when they saw us looking at
our maps (on street corners and in the aquarium). All
public transport personal were super friendly and
happy to help us 2 tourists out on out journey to the
many museums we visited.
The whole trip - the city itself was absolutely
gorgeous and each and every person we encountered
was very nice. I was very impressed with the city as a
whole.

good English and explained things to us in a friendly
way. We arrived coincidentally on the National Day
and a lady told us where to go to see the street
parade and what would be happening. The cultural
heritage, buildings etc were wonderful and we also
enjoyed the parks and gardens. The taxi driver was
courteous and the hotel staff were fantastic
(Marivaux)and so nice.
We had a very bad experience with a restaurant
called 'Le Marin' on a street full of restaurants near
the Grand Place. We saw on the menu board Paella
for 12E per person and the waiter told us we could
have paella for 25E for 2 persons, including a glass of
wine each. When we asked for the bill we were
charged 50E for the paella i.e. 25E per person. When
we objected they strenuously insisted that was the
correct price and showed us the menu which showed
25E for paella. However the menu board out the
front of the restaurant had showed 12E per person
and the waiter quoted us 25E/2 persons. We feel we
were 'scammed' by this restaurant and this left a
very bad impression of Brussels, which had otherwise
been very good. This upset and we left the following
day after making a complaint to the Tourism Bureau.

idea what kind of beauty was available in the city.
We just turned the corner from the street that goes
down from the train station and ended up there in
awe. Absolutely lovely and great food options all
around the area, especially the chocolates! The
quality of the chocolates was something I had never
experienced before, they're a good step ahead the
Swiss tradition.
I was very disappointed about how dirty the city was.
There is clearly a waste management problem that
gives a bad name to a lovely city. A solution should
be worked out promptly because it was properly
disgusting at times to see all this garbage in the
centre and close by areas. The capital of Europe
cannot afford such poor waste management
especially considering the good examples of
neighbouring Netherlands and Luxembourg

Une serveuse pas professionelle du tout dans un
restaurant de sushi près de Louise (sushi world) qui
m'a vu partir sans commander avec mes amis
américains. Elle m'a presaue crié dessus alors que je
lui demandais juste si on pouvait commander. Sinon
je pense qu'il devrait y avoir des gens à la sortie de la
gare centrale pour aider les touristes à trouver leur
chemin dans plusieurs langues. Voir avoir des gens à
des endroits clés de la ville qui repondent aux
questions des touristes parce que j'en aide
beaucoup. J'ai aussi été très deçue par l'état du palais
de justice...

Brussel is ook een Nederlandstalige stad en dat mag
ook wel eens blijken. De taalvaardigheid van de
medewerkers van de Dienst voor Toerisme is
gelukkig in orde, maar in restaurants heeft men vaak
geen Nederlandstalige menukaart en mensen zijn
ook niet in staat (of ze verdommen het gewoon) een
bestelling in het Nederlands op te nemen. Dat is me
ook zondag weer in een restaurant overkomen.

zeer veel mooie gebouwen , leuke parken, ... Het
MIMis ons bijzonder goed bevallen, de beide
tentoonstellingen zijn zeer aangenaam en interactief.
Het eten in het restaurant op de 10de verdieping was
super lekker, en het was heel aangenaam zitten op
het dakterras met prachtig zicht over Brussel, mede
door het prachtige weer!
Zeer zwaar ontgoocheld in de toeristische dienst op
de Grote Markt. De eerste dag gingen we daar onze
Brussels Card kopen voor 48u, die waren niet meer
voorhanden. Ik vroeg gewoon of het mogelijk was
om in het Nedelands aangesproken te worden. Een
Nederlandstalige dame van begin de 50 is toen zeer
onbeschoft geworden. Ze zei me dat het niet op
mijn gezicht stond dat ik Nederlands spreek. Ik heb
toen gezegd dat we toch in een tweetalig land
wonen. Een jongere Franstalige collega heeft me
toen in het Nederlands uitgelegd hoe ik aan een
ander verkooppunt kon geraken, en de route
uitgetekend op een kaart. Toen ik de kaart wou
overnemen begon de dame opnieuw. Ik moest 50ct
betalen voor die kaart, ondanks het feit dat ze er al
op geteken hadden. Die jonge colllega zei nog: het is
omdat ze de weg zouden vinden, waarop de dame
zei: "mijncollega heeft u de weg in perfect
Nederlands uitgelegd". Ik heb het gebouw toen
verlaten. Onze vrienden die nog aanwezig waren in
de zaal hoorden ze tegen de jongere collega zeggen:
c'est une Flamande Extremiste! Dit gedrag is
werkelijk ongehoord!

49 personnes, pour une journée(venant de
Normandie). Il faisait beau et tout était agréable : les
enfants ont vraiment apprécié le CBBD, le MUCC, la
maison du Roi et la visite guidée. Mais leur
ébahissement devant la Grand'Place a vraiment été
le meilleur moment de la journée. J'avais organisé
cette sortie avec mes élèves car je suis venue
plusieurs fois à Bruxelles et j'apprécie vraiment la
chaleur humaine et la beauté de cette merveilleuse
ville.

métro tram et bus associés . Les dépliants fournis par
l'office du tourisme ne renseignent pas suffisamment
sur la manière d'utiliser ces trois moyens de
transport de façon efficace . On a du mal a faire le
lien entre le réseau métro tram et bus afin de les
utiliser au mieux pour se déplacer au plus vite .

is easy to access many other cities in Belgium as well
as in neighbor countries ( France, Netherlands,
Germany, Luxemburg). I also enjoyed the
multicultural site of the city: many differnet people,
different languages, different habits. I have not
noticed any racist attidute from locals to muslims,
asians or africans.

l'on peut le trouver. Horaires pas à jour. Nul, c'ets
tellement cher! On y est resté 15 minutes, j'ai le
sentiment de m'être fait volé. Bureau du tourisme
trés dur à trouver dans la gare.

un Greeter et je ne regrette pas. Cette rencontre
était extra, j'ai appris un tas de choses, des conseils,
des recommandations, des anecdotes qu'aucun guide
ne pouvait me donner. J'ai aussi rencontré les
gérantes d'une boutique de déco de la ville, des
petites nanas supers accueillantes et agréable.
L'accueil dans les restaurants que j'ai fréquenté était
très bien. Le plan de la ville donné par la ville est très
détaillé et fort utile, bref : indispensable.
J'ai acheté la Brussels Card 72h(j'avais l'expérience de
la Bruges Card avec laquelle j'avais été très très
satisfaite) et je dois dire que j'ai été déçue du rapport
qualité/prix. En effet, certains "musées" (pour moi ça
ne peut pas être appelé musée) comme celui du
chocolat ou de la bière sont purement et simplement
du vol ! D'autres musées valent vraiment le coup
(Belvue, la BD ou d'autres encore). Pour profiter
pleinement de la gratuité des transports public avec
la Brussels Card, c'est très difficile, le réseau est très
difficile à appréhender pour un touriste et les
indications fournies ne m'ont pas permis de profiter
pleinement de ces moyens de transports.

mensen, met de bedoeling vooral in de Marollen te
gaan wandelen. Maar onze gids Patrick van City
Connexion heeft ons de omgeving ten Noorden van
de Grote Markt leren kennen (Vismarkt, St.-Goriks),
voor ons onbekend terrein. Het is bovendien een
organisatie die Brussel voelt en smaakt, geen zwaar
accent legt op geschiedenis en data, plaatsen waar
geen toerist komt maar onvergetelijk mooi zijn,
kortom, een echte aanrader.

verborgen plekjes. Brussel moet inderdaad ontdekt
worden. Hadden ook een supergids Patrick van City
Connexion. En , het mag gezegd worden, Brussel
leeft! Veel activiteiten en veel ambiance.
Netheid is wat verbeterd maar het blijft toch een
teer punt. En de rue des Bouchers blijft een tourist
trap. Best niet gaan. Er zijn zoveel andere leuke
plekjes om te lunchen..

Visite de la Monnaie et de l'hôtel de ville très intéressantes. Déambulation au fil des rues et découverte de la grand place de nuit, magique. Redevenir enfant en escaladant l'atomium Bon, l'ascenseur de l'Atomium était en réparation mais il faut bien faire ça un jour. C'était un premier contact, donc pas de temps pour visiter des musées dont Magritte! Ce sera une prochaine fois. Nous avons vu tous les monuments et quartiers intéressants. Nous (4pers) regrettons sincèrement d'avoir réservé à l'avance le Brussels Card (pass musée-transport) car peu utilisé pour les musées et n'est pas accepté dans tous les musées. Donc dépense inutile. De plus, ce pass n'est pas disponible à notre arrivée à la Gare du Midi. Donc obligés d'aller à pieds sur la Grand Place, au lieu d'aller directement à l'hôtel poser les valise.Légère perturbation dans notre organisation. il faut différencier pass transport et musées et le rendre dispo dès notre arrivée. De plus, en cette période de changement de celui-ci et les infos sur le site internet ne sont pas claires. I accepted, naturally, but was faced with the inability to use almost any needed public transportation due to New Years celebrations and routes which did not operate or city streets which were closed. In the end we were only able to visit the Museum of Musical Instruments (MIM) and received a discount at the Atomium - and for this we paid 43 euros each. The man scanning the entry tickets snapped at me and gestured abruptly to go and queue for a ticket - at least that's what I gleaned, as I couldn't even figure out if he was speaking French or Dutch, he spoke so loudly and rapidly! Then when I had the ticket he shouted at me again that I had to check in my coat. When I got inside I discovered that the information panels were only in Dutch and French! I went back to the desk and asked if they had an English translation (I thought they might have a typewritten handout or something) The young bearded guy at the audio guide counter said "No, there is none. We speak French, so..." and just trailed off as if to say it was my own fault. I heard a number of other native English speakers in the museum, British, American and Australian, so I doubt I was the only one struggling! I bought the Brussels card, and I know I got "free" entry but 12€ is a lot to pay to be treated so rudely and left largely uninformed. De gids en de rondleiding waren super goed zodat we het dit jaar opnieuw geboekt hebben, maar dit jaar was het heel anders...!!!! Op 17 oktober (in de namiddag) hebben wij de historische rondleiding voor een groep van 10 kinderen ( 11 jaar )en twee begeleiders geboekt. Hopende op dezelfde kwaliteit van vorig jaar, kwamen wij jammer genoeg tot de conclusie dat de dame absoluut niet gemotiveerd was en zeker aan onze kinderen heel weinig heeft geleerd. (in Sint- Hubertusgalerij aantal chocoladewinkels tellen,kijken naar een etalage met speelgoed, voor een taparestaurant halt houden, een blad met een "doolhof" geven en de weg zoeken, een blad geven en een menu laten opschrijven,...!!! Wij verwachten dat de kinderen een legende van Manneke Pis, Jeanneke Pis te horen krijgen, de kathedraal bezoeken,uitleg bij het koninklijk paleis krijgen,... Noch het hotel noch het restaurant rekenden annulatie kosten aan. Voor de gids moest wel de helft van het bedrag betaald worden niettegenstaande de gidsbeurt verplaats werd. Op verschillende mails kwam er geen reactie van de toeristische dienst. Na telefonisch contact bleek dat verschillende mails spoorloos waren, niettegenstaande het antwoord een reply was. We didn´t informed us about the city, because we wanted to go to the tourist information center. We wanted to go into the city by metro. So we drove to the P+R Roodebeek. One kilometre ante the parking space we weren´t allowed to drive to the parking space because of the special day Brussels without cars. So we parked our car and went to the metro station Roodebeek. When we entered the station we haven´t seen any special sign or something like this. Therefore we went to the ticket automat and bought two day tickets for the metro. After we paid a friendly woman told us that we don´t have to pay. She said today the go by metro is for-free. Unfortunately we had allready paid our tickets. After this conversation we looked for a sign which should indicate us about this information, but we weren´t able to find something like this. After this we went by metro until grand-central. Then we looked for a ticket counter and found one. There were two men sitting. We asked him, if it is fine to talk english and he answered yes. So we told him about the happening and asked if we could return the tickets. He said we should use the ticket the next day. Because of this we explained that we could only visit the city for this day and therefore we don´t needed a ticket for the next day. After this he just shruged his shoulders and didn´t say anything. So we tried to explain again we can´t use the ticket and then he only answered at french. Because we don´t speak french we wanted to go. After we turned he began to speak much louder and sounded aggressive. We don´t know if he really offended us, but we are really sure. There we met a very friendly man. He told us about we should go to the central station. So we told him what was happened and he was kind of upset. So he for the behavour of this men. He was also very suprised that there were no signs about the priceless going by metro and bus.He said he would like to give us the money back but he can´t. So he gave us this adress to contact. All after this we went to your beautiful city and enjoined the day. When we decided tr drive back home again we wanted to look for some signs at another metro station. We were at metro station Maalbeek. And again we couldn´t find any hints for the free-going- by-metro. The only thing we saw were two other tourist. We noticed that they stand in front of the ticket automat and talked about it. We explained them, that they don´t need to buy a ticket. They also didn´t knew this fact and were very happy we told them. So we recognized that we were not the only tourists who bought or wanted to buy a ticket. Then we went to the rails and we looked up to the screen about information for the ride. There we saw for the first time that going by metro is for free. When I saw this I thought: Why is this the only place for this information can bee seen. Because you have to buy the tickets at the beginning and not at the rails. And why is this information not be presented in english? I don´t think I would understand the message if it is only presented in french or dutch. After this we drove back home. Now I write to inform you about this happening. And I also wanted to ask if it is possible to return our tickets? I still got the tickets and thew receipt of my payment. It could not, so we queued up and paid for the town hall balcony,then when we realised that the city of Brussels museum balcony also overlooked the flower carpet and this was in the Brussels card (with a 1.50 euro supplement) we were cross that we hadn't been given this information as the queue was very long for the Town Hall, and we didn't need to pay the 5 euro. En effet, je pensais recevoir la Card à mon domicile avec les différentes brochures mais il nous a fallu les récupérer à la gare du Midi en arrivant et là pas facile de trouver l'office du touriste dans cette gare où les informations ne sont pas très bien indiquées. LA GROSSE DÉCEPTION ! Le camping "A ciel ouvert" situé à Ixelles. Il est HONTEUX pour une ville comme Bruxelles d'avoir un camping de ce STANDING, sanitaires dans un état de CRASSE, douches avec des rideaux sales, les bacs à douche et les toilettes ne sont pas nettoyés ou de façon très superficielle ! Lors de notre séjour, des groupes de jeunes en camps de vacances au vue de l'hygiène des lieux sont repartis alors qu'ils devaient séjourner plusieurs jours ! Le Jardin qui, d'après les publicités sur le net, est un havre de paix en plein centre ville, est plutôt assimilable à une décharge publique avec des gravas, des tas de ferraille autour du terrain, des poubelles débordantes de cadavres de bouteilles (il est vrai que l'on pratique le tri sélectif dans ce camping) ... Je possède des photos que je tiens à votre disposition. Tout cela pour 30,00 € la nuit pour deux personnes à payer EN ESPÈCES ! La seule chose positive, c'est l'accueil de la jeune fille très sympathique, même si elle n'a pas su gérer le manque d'eau chaude tout une journée et qu'elle a attendu que tout le monde se fâche pour réagir et appelé les "patrons" ! Je dois préciser que le camping est PLEIN TOUS LES SOIRS avec un va et vient tous les jours de touristes qui partent et arrivent. Je vous laisse imaginer la déception de tous ! Autre laïus, la propreté de vos rues ! Nous avons trouvé que Bruxelles est sale ! Papiers, déchets partout dans les rues. Nous avons séjourné, lors d'un voyage à vélo avec mon époux en cyclotourisme en 2012, à GAND puis à BRUGES, où nous avons trouvé des campings dignes de ce nom. The cuisine of pubs, bars and restaurants closes too early and it is a problem for many tourists 3. there was too much dirt on the street. The shops closed early and left by the 18 bags full of trash in front of their shop. I also very much enjoyed the Atomium. Unfortunately, the exhibition at the Atomium was closed when I visited on 1st September. It would've been really great to have known that beforehand and I would've come at a different date. The Magritte and Fin de siècle Museums were very interesting, however it was very cold in the exhibitions and I ended up rushing through and not making the most out of my visit because I'd left my coat in the locker. It would be great to advise visitors of the low temperature in the exhibition halls in the locker room so you can take a coat or jacket. At the Musee Horta I noticed that there seemed to be a whole half of the house that wasn't open for visitors. Assuming this was the servants' part of the house it would've been terrific to be able to explore this and learn more about the way Horta's family actually lived here as servants were an integral part of daily life. What's more, I felt that the focus of the exhibition here was more on the design than on the architecture. We arrived coincidentally on the National Day and a lady told us where to go to see the street parade and what would be happening. The cultural heritage, buildings etc were wonderful and we also enjoyed the parks and gardens. The taxi driver was courteous and the hotel staff were fantastic (Marivaux)and so nice. We had a very bad experience with a restaurant called 'Le Marin' on a street full of restaurants near the Grand Place. We saw on the menu board Paella for 12E per person and the waiter told us we could have paella for 25E for 2 persons, including a glass of wine each. When we asked for the bill we were charged 50E for the paella i.e. 25E per person. When we objected they strenuously insisted that was the correct price and showed us the menu which showed 25E for paella. However the menu board out the front of the restaurant had showed 12E per person and the waiter quoted us 25E/2 persons. We feel we were 'scammed' by this restaurant and this left a very bad impression of Brussels, which had otherwise been very good. My family and I had no idea what kind of beauty was available in the city. We just turned the corner from the street that goes down from the train station and ended up there in awe. Absolutely lovely and great food options all around the area, especially the chocolates! The quality of the chocolates was something I had never experienced before, they're a good step ahead the Swiss tradition. I was very disappointed about how dirty the city was. There is clearly a waste management problem that gives a bad name to a lovely city. A solution should be worked out promptly because it was properly disgusting at times to see all this garbage in the centre and close by areas. De taalvaardigheid van de medewerkers van de Dienst voor Toerisme is gelukkig in orde, maar in restaurants heeft men vaak geen Nederlandstalige menukaart en mensen zijn ook niet in staat (of ze verdommen het gewoon) een bestelling in het Nederlands op te nemen. Het eten in het restaurant op de 10de verdieping was super lekker, en het was heel aangenaam zitten op het dakterras met prachtig zicht over Brussel, mede door het prachtige weer! Zeer zwaar ontgoocheld in de toeristische dienst op de Grote Markt. De eerste dag gingen we daar onze Brussels Card kopen voor 48u, die waren niet meer voorhanden. Ik vroeg gewoon of het mogelijk was om in het Nedelands aangesproken te worden. Een Nederlandstalige dame van begin de 50 is toen zeer onbeschoft geworden. Ze zei me dat het niet op mijn gezicht stond dat ik Nederlands spreek. Ik heb toen gezegd dat we toch in een tweetalig land wonen. Een jongere Franstalige collega heeft me toen in het Nederlands uitgelegd hoe ik aan een ander verkooppunt kon geraken, en de route uitgetekend op een kaart. Toen ik de kaart wou overnemen begon de dame opnieuw. Ik moest 50ct betalen voor die kaart, ondanks het feit dat ze er al op geteken hadden. Die jonge colllega zei nog: het is omdat ze de weg zouden vinden, waarop de dame zei: "mijncollega heeft u de weg in perfect Nederlands uitgelegd". Ik heb het gebouw toen verlaten. Onze vrienden die nog aanwezig waren in de zaal hoorden ze tegen de jongere collega zeggen: c'est une Flamande Extremiste! J'ai aussi rencontré les gérantes d'une boutique de déco de la ville, des petites nanas supers accueillantes et agréable. L'accueil dans les restaurants que j'ai fréquenté était très bien. Le plan de la ville donné par la ville est très détaillé et fort utile, bref : indispensable. J'ai acheté la Brussels Card 72h(j'avais l'expérience de la Bruges Card avec laquelle j'avais été très très satisfaite) et je dois dire que j'ai été déçue du rapport qualité/prix. En effet, certains "musées" (pour moi ça ne peut pas être appelé musée) comme celui du chocolat ou de la bière sont purement et simplement du vol ! D'autres musées valent vraiment le coup (Belvue, la BD ou d'autres encore). Maar onze gids Patrick van City Connexion heeft ons de omgeving ten Noorden van de Grote Markt leren kennen (Vismarkt, St.-Goriks), voor ons onbekend terrein. Brussel moet inderdaad ontdekt worden. Hadden ook een supergids Patrick van City Connexion. En , het mag gezegd worden, Brussel leeft! Veel activiteiten en veel ambiance. Netheid is wat verbeterd maar het blijft toch een teer punt. En de rue des Bouchers blijft een tourist trap. Best niet gaan.
