  5. 5. OVERVIEW Title: The Global Virtual Classroom (GVC) project Background: The Global Virtual Classroom (GVC) is a collection of free, online educational activities and resources. Primary (Grades 1-7) and Secondary (Grades 8-12, or equivalent) classes and youth groups around the world that have access to the Internet and are able to use The Global Virtual Classroom.

OBJECTIVES <ul><li>Goal: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>- To complement the efforts of governments and educators around the world to integrate technology into their classrooms and curricula. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>-To link their schools to the Internet in educationally productive ways. . </li></ul></ul><ul><li>objectives: </li></ul><ul><li>- To empower, enable and connect students around the world using Internet technology. </li></ul><ul><li>-To provide students with a stimulating, positive and enjoyable environment along with the opportunity to develop skills and communication. </li></ul><ul><li>-To collaborate through teamwork, information technology and website design.  </li></ul>

Evaluation model & instrument <ul><li>ACTION model proposed used to evaluate to evaluate the Global Virtual Classroom. </li></ul><ul><li>The evaluation concentrated in 3 parts: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Accessibility </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Interactivity and User friendless </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Teaching and Learning. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Organizational issues </li></ul></ul>

Evaluation model & instrument <ul><li>Access: </li></ul><ul><li>The examiners should evaluate: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Do students and teachers have access to GVC? </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Requires the teacher to have a certain degree of technical skill and knowledge in order to access to GVC. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Requires almost daily classroom computer/Internet access. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Is GVC easy to run and use? </li></ul></ul><ul><li>This aspect will be best evaluated using students and teacher’ survey. </li></ul>

Evaluation model & instrument <ul><li>Teaching and Learning: </li></ul><ul><li>The examiners should evaluate: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Do the GVC chosen appropriately to meet the students’ needs? </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Is the GVC will adapted to activities that is provided by GVC? </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>How successfully GVC develops the students required skills and knowledge? </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Do the features that provide by GVC properly to the students and teachers capabilities? </li></ul></ul><ul><li>  This aspect should be evaluated by achievement test and observation. </li></ul>
