IZ Workshop 2014: B1 fair housing lottery cover letter

  1. 1. Dear Applicant, Thank you for your interest in Avalon Andover, Avalon’s newest community! Enclosed you will find information regarding the Avalon Andover Open Enrollment period for the Blue Skies Advantage affordable housing program. You will find an Affordable Housing Questionnaire and Application for Residency. One questionnaire must be completed and submitted per household. An application must be completed and submitted per member of the household who is 18 years of age or older. Please specify your annual household income on the enclosed application(s) and ensure that the entire application is completely filled out for all applicants 18 years of age or older. In order to pre-qualify your application(s), your annual household income must fall between the minimum and maximum income guidelines. If you do not report an income, your application will be denied unless you are a Section 8 voucher holder. When choosing the size of apartment that you desire, please be aware that you are not able to choose a specific apartment floor plan. You may only choose the number of bedrooms that you desire as this is a need-based program. Upon initial receipt of your application, you will receive a letter stating the status of your application (preapproved, denied, or incomplete). Please note that we receive a large volume of applications and it may take up to two weeks to receive this status letter. We sincerely appreciate your patience in advance. Please note that this is a smoke free community. If your application is accepted, your application will be placed in the Avalon Andover lottery pool. The lottery will be held approximately one week following the conclusion of the Open Enrollment period. Shortly after the lottery is held, you will receive another letter stating the updated status of your application (selected in lottery or placed on waitlist). As apartment homes are completed and delivered by construction for occupancy (may be over a period of several months), those applicants selected in the lottery are required to pay a $500 security deposit once an apartment home has been offered (fees and deposits are subject to change at any time with or without notice). Apartment offers will be submitted to randomly selected lottery applicants via Regular US Mail, email and/or telephone. An approved credit check must be completed prior to move in. Residents and municipal employees of the Town of Andover are given priority in the Avalon Andover Blue Skies Advantage affordable housing program during the lottery process only. Applications not chosen in the lottery will be placed on the Avalon Andover waitlist based upon the number of bedrooms the applicant is qualified for and the date and time the application was received. Once the lottery has been conducted, Town of Andover priorities are no longer valid. Applications may be submitted by fax to 978-851-7265, in person by delivering to Avalon Andover leasing office located at 460 River Road, Andover, MA 01810 or by mail and email per the information below. All applications must be received by Blue Skies Advantage in-hand, NOT postmarked, by 5pm on March 15th 2012. Applications received and approved after this date and time will be added to the Avalon Andover waitlist but not included in the lottery pool.
