and women golf Professionals who are the recognized experts in teaching and growing
the game.
• The LPGA is one of the longest-running women’s professional sports associations in the
world. Founded in 1950, the organization has grown from its roots as a playing tour into a
non-profit organization involved in every facet of golf.
• Once considered a mature sport, professional golf is attracting newer and younger
audiences thanks to high profile players like Michelle Wie, Brittany Lang, Mo Martin, Rory
McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth.
• In June 2014, Forbes Magazine listed PGA Tour star Tiger Woods as the sixth highest
paid athlete in the world with earnings at 61.2 million. Phil Mickelson was listed as the 8th
highest paid athlete in the world with 53.2 million in earnings.

As the most widely known golf organization in the world, the
PGA Tour operates the United States’ main men’s professional
golf tours.
MAJOR GOLF ORGANIZATIONS
CHAMPIONS TOUR
Run by the PGA Tour, the Champions Tour hosts events
throughout the United States and Canada for golfers 50 and
older.
LGPA TOUR
The LPGA is the most prestigious women’s golf organizations
and is the longest-running women’s sports association in the
world.

  • 5. THE PGA TOUR As the most widely known golf organization in the world, the PGA Tour operates the United States’ main men’s professional golf tours. MAJOR GOLF ORGANIZATIONS CHAMPIONS TOUR Run by the PGA Tour, the Champions Tour hosts events throughout the United States and Canada for golfers 50 and older. LGPA TOUR The LPGA is the most prestigious women’s golf organizations and is the longest-running women’s sports association in the world.
