The five themes of geography are location, place, human-environment interaction, movement, and regions. Location refers to where things are located on Earth's surface. Place examines the human and physical characteristics of locations. Human-environment interaction analyzes how humans adapt to and change the natural world. Movement explores how people, goods, and ideas flow between locations. Regions are areas that share common characteristics that give them unity and distinguish them from other areas.
