Florence’s father finally gave herpermission to train as a nurse in1851. At the age of 31 she went toGermany to study to become anurse at the institute of ProtestantDeaconessess 2 years later she wasappointed resident ladysuperintendent for a hospital inHarley street, London. In 1853Russia invaded Turkey. Englandwere very concerned about Russiainvading Turkey a lot of nurses anddoctors went over to help with theaid and Florence was one of thosenurses in the Crimean war.

In 1856Florence returned to England as anational heroine she was reallyshocked with the lack of hygienecare the men were getting in theBritish army. Florence publishedtwo books called notes onhospital(1856) and notes onnursing(1856).in later life Florencesuffered from poor health and in1895 she became blind she hadto be nursed and most of herabilities and in the tragic year1910 Florence passed away on the13th of August..
