  3. 3. is whether you can do job costing on QBO.
  4. 4. Yes, you can do basic job costing in QBO.
  5. 5. First, you need to know how to add jobs in QuickBooks Online.
  6. 6. WHAT ARE JOBS?
  7. 7. Jobs are like projects.
  8. 8. You may do multiple projects for a customer.
  9. 9. Some industries refer to them as jobs or projects.
  10. 10. USING SUB-CUSTOMERS IN QUICKBOOKS ONLINE
  11. 11. QuickBooks Online actually doesn’t use “jobs”.
  12. 12. It uses sub-customers.
  13. 13. It’s very easy to set up sub-customers in QBO, I’ll show you.
  14. 14. HOW TO SET UP JOBS IN QBO
  15. 15. You can add sub- customers (jobs) to the customer list in QBO from the Customer Center.
  16. 16. To access the Customer Center, click on Customers from the Left Navigation bar.
  17. 17. From the customer center, Click New Customer on the Upper Right.
  18. 18. Refer to my tutorial on how to add customers to QuickBooks Online .
  19. 19. The Customer Information window will open.
  20. 20. First, set up the “Parent” customer and save.
  21. 21. The Parent customer is the customer name.
  22. 22. For example, the Parent customer is the name of the customer – Freeman Sporting Goods.
  23. 23. Next, add the job as a sub-customer. Click New Customer on the Upper Right.
  24. 24. Enter the job name in the Company field.
  25. 25. Check the “Is Sub- customer” box and choose the “parent” customer from the list
  26. 26. and indicate whether you want to invoice the sub- customer with the parent.
  27. 27. Click Save when done.
