  1. 1. Overview Document G Ramu | gramu@3dtalentservices.com | www.3dtalentservices.com | +91 44 4344 2222 667/1, 47th Street, 9th Sector, K K Nagar, Chennai 600078 Business Description Organizations faced with productivity challenges grapple with the lack of information on skills and analytics on talent. 3D addresses this major lacuna by utilizing “Skills/Capability” as the denomination for Talent Measurement & Management At the core of all applications is an IP based “Skills Profiling” tool - 3D Capabilities Profiling (3DCP). This is a combination of a framework for skills profiling and an exhaustive database of skills across all industries, functions and roles, providing a structured tool to capture skills The data-centric approach to managing talent is unlike any in the Human Resources Management space and constitutes a game changing and disruptive innovation. For organizations this helps unlock the true value of their talent pool, enhancing productivity and in turn helping drive higher revenues and profits. Products/Services 3D is NOT an HRIS software provider and instead offers complementary products and services. 3D’s core engine consists of a skill profiling tool and a comprehensive skill database on top of which are provided applications for Skills Analytics, Skills Inventory, Training & Development, Recruitment, Performance Management, Career Planning, Succession Planning and more. 3D’s applications target companies across industries and domains providing talent utilities and analytics; Individuals charting career plans and identifying training needs; Trainers and Training Organizations; who can precisely target their audience, help HR Consultants/Job Portals improve candidate profiling and even governments and industry bodies that need to understand skills available in the economy. Technologies/Special Know-how 3D’s core IP “3D Capability Profile” is unique and patentable. The application built on Open Source technologies are modularized and can be used on stand-alone basis. 3D uses Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and its apps can talk to and work with third party applications. Market 3D addresses key issues that bog talent management industry, that of identifying SKILLS individuals possess and deep HR analytics. 3D’s scalable Software-as-a-Service model provides applications catering to all sizes of firms across any industry or geography. While corporates pay only 1-2$ fees per person for using an app, the self-profiling tool is completely free to use for individuals. Trainers advertising courses and self-development programs would pay a small fee for being able to target the right audience. With a potential to touch a billion plus globally the size of the market is very large even at a conservative spend of just 1$/person. Also with many different apps for various segments the revenue streams are diverse. Also none are built on the data driven framework of “Skills” like what 3D provides, which significantly aids processes like recruitment and training. Due to absence of structured data, Big Data and analytics are yet to touch the HR function, which 3D is capable of addressing. 3D’s unique profiling tool coupled with the database built through extensive research & development provides significant barriers to entry. Game-Changing and Disruptive Innovation drives 3D 3D utilizes “SKILLS” as the base for Talent Measurement & Management around which several talent related applications are built for Talent Selection (recruitment), Talent Analytics, Performance Appraisal & Management, Skills Gap Analysis, Training & Development, Career Development and more. At the core of all our applications is a “Skills Profiling” tool - 3D Capabilities Profiling (3DCP), which is a combination of a conceptual framework on skills profiling and an exhaustive database of skills across all industries, functions and roles. This data-centric approach to managing talent is unlike any in the Human Resources Management space. Overview Document G Ramu | gramu@3dtalentservices.com | www.3dtalentservices.com | +91 44 4344 2222 667/1, 47th Street, 9th Sector, K K Nagar, Chennai 600078 The 3D Team G Ramu, the founder and the Ideator in the team is passionate about talent and human development. Nanda is a classmate of Ramu from IIT-BHU, Varanasi and holds a Masters from SUNY, US and a PGDBM from IIM-Kolkata. Key Differentiators There are three key differentiators of 3D’s business. One, its model of services which is akin to that of a “clinic + pharmacy” Two, its core application i.e. 3D Capabilities Profile (3DCP) – a comprehensive and holistic profiling of an individual’s skills, proficiencies & career roles Three, the talent landscape intelligence to provide insights to individuals and companies on the developments in the talent landscape to help them be future-ready 3D aims to influence individuals in their career and self-development and companies in their talent development and management by adopting a “clinic + pharmacy” model. This means aiding individuals and companies in their diagnosis, prescription and providing a marketplace for talent solutions. 3D Talent Services’ solutions help answer talent-centric questions such as “Where do I stand and what are my challenges?” and “How do I tackle these challenges?” This end to end, complete lifecycle methodology brings a comprehensive, scientific approach to talent management that currently does not exist in other solutions in the market. The second key differentiator is 3D’s core Intellectual Property developed after comprehensive research – the 3D Capabilities Profile (3DCP). 3DCP is an application for comprehensive and holistic profiling of an individual’s talent. 3DCP is a three layered application. One, a conceptual framework which covers the different areas of skills including functional/technical skills, behavioral/soft skills, managerial/leadership skills and hobbies/interests; Two, an exhaustive and highly structured database of skills across different functions. And three, a simple, powerful and intuitive front-end for individuals from any function to profile their talent in less than five minutes.
  6. 6. Overview Document G Ramu | gramu@3dtalentservices.com | www.3dtalentservices.com | +91 44 4344 2222 667/1, 47th Street, 9th Sector, K K Nagar, Chennai 600078 3DCP can be equated to a four stroke engine that drives modern vehicles. Just as different models of cars are built around the same technology, many applications are being created around 3DCP. Any activity that is centered around talent – career development, training, job-person fit, succession planning, rewards and recognitions etc. – can be handled by 3D’s suite of currently available and planned applications with 3DCP serving as the underlying engine. The more scientific the profiling, the better would be the effectiveness of the system. The talent landscape is constantly evolving – new skills emerge and fade, some industries become hot-spots while others go cold. A proper prescription for talent management and development can be effected only when the solution is intelligent and flexible enough to be customized easily to suit an individual or a company’s talent profile. This is a challenging field where we plan to invest and requires not just development of technology solutions but also processes for incorporating human judgment and simplifying their decision making processes. The technologies used will include machine learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Big Data and other intelligent data mining and analysis solutions. Technology The applications have been built using Open Source technologies. We have used Linux, Apache Server, mySQL and PHP as a framework. jQuery and AJAX have been used extensively for simplified manipulation and presentation of data. The applications are hosted in the Data Center of Rackspace – one of the world’s leading hosting providers. The applications for individuals, companies and talent service providers are disparate or modularized i.e. they can be used on a stand-alone basis. Yet, they are integrated, allowing for users to use the other applications with a Single Sign-On (SSO). To enable this, we have used Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). We expect the applications to talk to and work with third party applications. Keeping this possibility we have created the application such that APIs can be easily created when the need arises.
