  3. 3. TROUGH SYSTEM ● comprises of U-shaped reflectors focussing sunlight onto pipes running along their centre ● These pipes are filled with oil or molten salt ● The heated oil in turn heats the water into steam
  4. 4. SOLAR POWER TOWER ● uses large flat mirrors called heliostats to focus sun rays onto a receiver sitting atop a tower ● In top of the tower fluid such as molten salt is present ● A part of molten salt is stored for future use
  5. 5. DISH/ENGINE SYSTEM ● use a parabolic dish of mirrors to direct and concentrate sunlight onto thermal receiver ● Thermal receiver is filled with cooling fluid(heat transfer medium ● The engine uses heat from thermal receiver to move pistons and create mechanical power
  6. 6. Advantages of csp ● Overcome problem of intermittency ● The equipments used for conventional fossil fuel power plants can be used

Floating wind turbines ● Wind turbines which are anchored to the seabed by means of flexible anchors, chains or steel cables. ● A floating offshore wind platform (FOWP) is the concrete, steel or hybrid substructure on which the wind turbine is installed, providing it with buoyancy and stability ● The produced electricity is transported through underwater cables to a offshore substation
  8. 8. Advantages of floating wind turbines Energy efficiency: strong wind in deeper area means greater efficiency More dependable : it becomes a more dependable energy source because of constant winds of deeper waters
  9. 9. beta voltaic cell ● Electron is generated by a radio active source( beta emitters)
  10. 10. Beta voltaic cell ● Electrochemical batteries dont last very long ● Nuclear batteries can last up to decades ● Low energy particles can easily be contained ● Can be used in scalable, long- lasting, low-power devices ● Eg : pacemaker cochlear implant
  11. 11. Printable solar cells ● Paper thin solar cells that can be produced with inkjet printing on a sheet of paper.
  12. 12. Advantages ● Cheap than traditional ones. ● Energy can be harvested anywhere curtains walls ● Converting silicon into wafers is expensive

Microbial fuel cell A microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a device that converts chemical energy released as a result of oxidation of complex organic carbon sources which are utilized as substrates by microorganisms to produce electrical energy thereby proving to be an efficient means of sustainable energy production.
  15. 15. ADVANTAGES ● Could encourage waste water treatment ● Deriving energy from useless sources ● Reduces the energy consumption for wastewater treatment ● Avoiding the use of expensive catalyst
