Self Development/Interests Blue Star Families 2013 Lifestyle SurveyBlue Star Families recently released the findings of its fourth annualMilitary Family Lifestyle Survey. In the fall of last year, Blue Star Familiessurveyed more than 5,100 military family members online to find out thetop concerns of the military community. Among the most important issueswere military child education, the effects of deployment on children, andmilitary spouse employment. Thirty-five percent of respondents listedpay/benefits as the top issue of military family life. At the survey releasebriefing held at the Capitol Visitors Center, guests were addressed bySenate and House Military Family Caucus Co-Chairs CongresswomanCathy McMorris-Rodgers and Congressman Sanford Bishop, along with apanel of military family members, service members, and militarycommunity leaders that fleshed out the survey findings further. Withmore than 10,000 official military and community support websitesproviding information for military families, it is often difficult to navigatewhich sites are supplying credible information. Families are left scouringthe internet to try and piece together the best resources to support the nextsteps in their life. For the first time families have access to trustedinformation right at their fingertips, specifically identified for their currentlife challenges and goals.
