  4. 4. GEOGRAPHY• The principality of Asturias is one of the seventeen autonomous communities in Spain. It has a wide variety of landscapes, which combine green and rugged mountains, white sand beaches, rocky beaches, and a vast extension of green and natural landscape.

  17. 17. ECONOMY• The economy of Asturias has a declining primary sector which employs 20% of the active population with beef production, agriculture (corn, potatoes and apples) and fishing.• The mining of coal remains significant, but it is not as important as it once was.
