  22. 22. What drives the building design? It’s a combination of neighborhood context, zoning, and community outreach/feedback.
  23. 23. Eastern Neighborhoods - Mission Area Plan • The goal of the plan is to provide new housing by fostering transit oriented development and promoting local, neighborhood-serving businesses and micro- enterprises. • The plan was the result of an eight year community planning process (2001 – 2009). • The Mission District community was at the table, including SFUSD, Marshall Elementary and PTA. • There was unanimous approval by Board of Supervisors, with 1 abstention. • The portion of site along 16th was re-zoned as part of EN Plan to allow for more housing close to transit. This matches the portion of site along Mission that was zoned for its current height in conjunction with initiation of BART service in the late 1960s.
