  2. 2.  It is important to be aware that the labour market is constantly changing because of new technology, global competition, or because a company is restructuring.  A person needs to stay on top employment trends that will determine which occupations are likely to grow in demand and which will decline.
  3. 3.  Your job security is your responsibility because you need to ensure continued employability.  Ensure you have skills such as reading, mathematics, communication skills, personal skills, soft skills, and high emotional intelligence.  An education can provide more opportunities achieving employment.
  4. 4.  You don’t want to be in a position where the lack of skills could lead to missed opportunities.  Lifetime leaning and the development of “soft” personal skills will ensure your ready for any challenges that come your way.  You must obtain transferable skills or employability skills such as academic, personal management, and team work skills.
  5. 5.  You can develop employability skills by participating in work experience, career preparation activities, or volunteering.  Employers are looking for people with the right attitude, and have a high emotional intelligence.  That means you must be reliable, flexible, motivated, self-aware, sensitive to others, and willing to be part of a team.
