  7. 7. Why Solar Energy?  It is Free.  It is Clean.  It is Infinitely renewable.  It can reduce our utility cost.  It increases our energy self reliance.  It is extremely reliable. 7
  8. 8. Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) Modules  Connected assembly of solar cells.  Output of 0.5 - 0.6 volt DC.  Output Current depends on Area of the cell and the amount of Light falling.  So efficiency is determined by the area of a module. 8
  9. 9. How PV Cells Work?  Composed of ultra-thin layer of N type silicon on top of a thicker layer of P type silicon. 9

  12. 12. Manufacturing Process 1. Tabbing of Cells  Process of making terminals of a bare cell by soldering copper strips to the bus bar. 12
  13. 13. Manufacturing Process 2. Row Making  A row of cells is made by connecting positive surfaces of one cell to the negative surface of another cell. 13
  14. 14. Manufacturing Process 3. Stringing  The rows of SPV cells are connected in series to get desired power rating. 14
  15. 15. Manufacturing Process 4. Lay-up  In this process, solar cells are put in between various layers for lamination and curing process. 15

  17. 17.  Advantages  Can be designed for variety of applications and operational requirements.  Have no moving parts.  Expandable.  Transportable.  The fuel (sunlight) is free.  No noise pollution or any othe type of pollution.  Requires minimum maintenance.  Have long service lifetimes (upto 20 years). 17
  18. 18.  Disadvantages  High Cost.  Large Surface Area.  Doesn’t work at night.  Not reliable unless kept in a very sunny climate. 18
  19. 19. 19 AGRO Electronics DIVISION Electronic Milk Tester
  20. 20. 20 Principle :- EMT is a simple, economical but accurate milk fat testing instrument. It measures the fat content instantaneously on a digital read out. It does not involve the use of corrosive chemicals.Electron milk tester is based on the photometric measurement of light scattered by the milk sample. The light is scattered by the fat globules, acting as small prism. Features: - 1. Auto zero facility 2. Easy to read digital LED display 3. Runs on mains or batteries 4. Measures up to 13% fat 5. Accepts small sample volume 6. Performs 120-150 test per hour 7. Automatic switch over to battery in case of power failure 8. Cheapest method of milk testing .

  27. 27. 27 CONCLUSION • The summer training in REIL played an important role to develop myself. It was a golden opportunity for me to get the practical knowledge and hands-on experience from the things about which I had theoretical knowledge from the course curriculum. • As the organization follows the ISO 9001 standards, everything is done in a particular way following the documents. In addition I gained knowledge about the working principle of solar cells and the various applications in which they are used.
