  2. 2. Radio <ul><li>Radio is a form of advertising via the medium of radio. Airtime is purchased from a station or network in exchange for airing the commercials. </li></ul><ul><li>Radio commercials are usually sold in 10, 20, 30, 60 or 120 second increments. </li></ul><ul><li>Ad agencies generally purchase radio based on a target demographic. For example, if you wanted to reach teens, you would purchase an ad on a radio station that is popular with teens. </li></ul><ul><li>Effective because you can reach your specific targeted audience, at any specific time you want. </li></ul>

Outdoors <ul><li>A panel for the display of advertisements in public places, such as alongside highways or on the sides of buildings. </li></ul><ul><li>Billboards - The cost of billboard advertising ranges from about $700 to $2,500 a month. At that rate, ten billboards could run as much as $25,000 per month. </li></ul><ul><li>Billboard ads tend to target middle- to upper-income demographics. </li></ul><ul><li>More effective in some ways, it’s up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week verses a 1 time newspaper ad or 30 sec. commercial. But you are limited in amount of words, with billboards have to concentr ate more on visuals than text. </li></ul>

Internet <ul><li>Examples of online advertising include contextual ads on search engine results pages, banner ads, Rich Media Ads, Social network advertising, online classified advertising, advertising networks and e-mail marketing, including e-mail spam. </li></ul><ul><li>The large majority of online advertising has a cost that is brought about by usage or interaction of an ad, there are a few other methods of advertising online that only require a one time payment </li></ul><ul><li>In addition to contextual targeting, online advertising can be targeted based on a user's past click stream. </li></ul><ul><li>Effective because anyone who visited that particular webpage will see your ad, and based on the different types, some are very hard to miss. </li></ul>

TV <ul><li>The vast majority of TV advertisements today consist of brief advertising spots, ranging in length from a few seconds to several minutes, as well as program-length infomercials. </li></ul><ul><li>The TV commercial is generally considered the most effective mass-market advertising format, and this is reflected by the high prices TV networks charge for commercial airtime. </li></ul><ul><li>TV commercials can target any audience they want, but with that if you want a prime time spot, its going to cost a lot. So unless your company is willing pay that price, TV commercials are probably not the best advertisement choice. </li></ul>

Newspaper <ul><li>A printed advertisement that is published in a newspaper with a subscription to run for 2 weeks with color, would cost around $1,334.00, and increases with each extra day printed. </li></ul><ul><li>Newspaper demographics show that it reached, both men and women that are middle-aged or older. </li></ul><ul><li>This avenue of advertising in only effective to those who pay to read the newspaper, if this is the only ways a company is going to advertising, its not going to be able to reach as many people that you could. </li></ul>

Yellow Pages <ul><li>The yellow pages are directory where business products and services are listed alphabetically by field along with classified advertising. </li></ul><ul><li>One good thing about this type of ad is the ability to target an audience in a specific geographical area. </li></ul><ul><li>And once your ad goes in the Yellow Pages, its there for an entire year. And its there 24 hours a day, so you don’t have to worry about whether or not people will see your ad or not. </li></ul>

Others… <ul><li>Before Movie Ads can target a wide range of viewers, young and old, guys or girls, and so forth. </li></ul><ul><li>The demographics change depending on which film the advertisement is shown before. </li></ul><ul><li>This can be effective because you can reach different age groups, that the other ways wouldn’t necessarily reach in one viewing. </li></ul>

With this you are able to target the specific area you want. </li></ul><ul><li>Direct-mail advertising has several advantages, including detail of information, personalization, selectivity, and speed. </li></ul><ul><li>But while direct mail has advantages, it carries an expensive per-head price. </li></ul><ul><li>And is dependent on the appropriateness of the mailing list, and is resented by some customers, who consider it &quot;junk mail.&quot; </li></ul>
