  3. 3. History of Robotics <ul><li>3500 BC - Greek myths of Hephaestus and Pygmalion incorporate the idea of intelligent mechanisms. Something we would later call robots. (16) </li></ul><ul><li>2500 BC - Egyptians invent the idea of thinking machines: citizens turn for advice to oracles, which are statues with priests hidden inside. (16) </li></ul><ul><li>1400 BC - Babylonians develop a water clock named the &quot;clepsydra.&quot; (16) </li></ul><ul><li>This water clock is considered one of the first &quot;robotic&quot; devices in the history of man kind. The water is recycled through a kind of siphoning system. (16) </li></ul><ul><li>700 - 800 BC - First symbolic mention of robots (automated) appears in Homer's Iliad - or simulacra as they will be called later. (16) </li></ul>

  8. 8. Advantage Of Robotic Invention <ul><li>Robotics and automations can increase safety, reliability, production amount, profit, quality and quantity of products in a lot of cases. (1) </li></ul><ul><li>They can do jobs in dangerous situations and save lives in the thousands. (1) </li></ul><ul><li>They do not care about the comfort of their environment. Such as Human for instant hunger or depression have no meanings for them. They do not get tired. </li></ul><ul><li>Their accuracy is so high and is in the range of millimeters or even micrometers. (1) </li></ul>

  10. 10. Disadvantage Of Robot <ul><li>High initial cost of robotic systems and robots. (2) </li></ul><ul><li>Possible need for extra space, and accommodate new technology. (2) </li></ul><ul><li>There must be highly skilled technical engineers, programmers and others to set up robotic systems and to prevent unnecessary future problems and mishaps. (2) </li></ul><ul><li>New robotic systems can cause defect and possible injuries during time. (2) </li></ul><ul><li>Robotic systems and robots are limited to their functions. </li></ul><ul><li>Robots may not respond properly in times of an emergency or when some unexpected variance occurs. (2) </li></ul><ul><li>Reduced less human force. (2) </li></ul>
  11. 11. Interesting Facts <ul><li>The first known case of robot homicide occurred in 1981, when a robotic arm crushed a Japanese Kawasaki factory worker. (4) </li></ul><ul><li>There are currently 4,000 robots serving in the US Military, including reconnaissance Talon bots that scout for roadside bombs in Iraq and Pack-Bots that unsuccessfully poked around for Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Afghanistan. (16) </li></ul><ul><li>Electro is the first humanoid robot in the world which was debuted in the year 1939. It was created by the Westinghouse. It was 7 foot in height and was able walk and speaks. It spokes over seven hundred words which was stored in it. (4) </li></ul><ul><li>Nowadays there are millions of industrial robots are in use and about half of them are in Japan alone. (16) </li></ul>
