  2. 2. • Fast food is the term given to food that can be prepared and served very quickly. While any meal with low preparation time can be considered to be fast food, typically the term refers to food sold in a restaurant or store with preheated or precooked ingredients, and served to the customer in a packaged form for take- out/take-away.
  3. 3. 3 Reasons why fastfood is bad for you• Eating too much fast food is considered to be a leading cause of obesity, hypertension, and heart disease.• Fast food restaurants are popular because they serve tasty convenient foods for a reasonable price. Many people visit these restaurants frequently to eat their main meals. They dont realize that these type of food items are bad for health.
  4. 4. 1- Fast food contain morecalories.• Majority of junk foods are loaded with calories. Large portion size and high fat content are the main reasons for the high energy content.• An average person need to consume about 400-600 calories in a mealtime. (If he takes 3 main meals and 2 snacks.) The calorie content of many items are far more than that level.
  5. 5. 2- Fast food contain moreunhealthy fat.• Eating too much saturated fat can increase bad cholesterol level in the blood. Elevated levels of cholesterol is the main cause of heart attack, stroke and peripheral vascular diseases.• Another type of fat presents in these food is called trans fat, which is the worst type of fat. We do not need to eat trans fat, even in tiny amounts.
  6. 6. 3- Fast foods are high insodium.• Sodium plays several important roles in our body. We need to consume certain amount of sodium everyday.• However, taking too much salt is bad for the body. It can cause high blood pressure, obesity, and osteoporosis. In addition, experts believed that over-consumption of salt is linked to increased risk of developing bowl cancer.
  7. 7. • Eating too much fast food is bad for your health because they contain more calories, more unhealthy fay, and more salt. They can lead to obesity, high blood pressure, and coronary heart diseases.
  8. 8. Some shocking factsabout fast food.• One in four people in America visit fast food restaurants everyday.• Fast food restaurants distribute lots of toys to children. That may be a major contributor to childhood obesity.• Everyday about 50 million people eat at McDonalds.• Fast food is a major contributor to the obesity epidemic.
  9. 9. Slow Food• Slow Food is an international movement founded by Carlo Petrini in 1986. Promoted as an alternative to fast food, it strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and encourages farming of plants, seeds and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem. It was the first established part of the broader Slow movement. The movement has since expanded globally to over 100,000 members in 150 countries.
  10. 10. • Slow Food began in Italy with the founding of its forerunner organization, Arcigola, in 1986 to resist the opening of a McDonalds near the Spanish Steps in Rome. In 1989, the founding Manifesto of the international Slow Food movement was signed in Paris, France by delegates from 15 countries. This was done not in part to protest against the restaurant chain, and primarily to protest against big international business interests.
