  2. 2. The big four: <br />The big four are the biggest recording companies in the music industry. These include:<br />•Universal Music Group- The largest Of the Big Four and the Music Companies.<br />•Sony Media Entertainment- The second Largest Music Company <br />•Warner music Group- The third Largest Music Company<br />•EMI Music Publishing- The fourth largest music company, but is the smallest in the big four.<br />The Big Four labels, also known as major record labels, represent the majority of the music sold, making up as much as 75% of the music market.<br />The big four is owned by Live Nation which stands as the biggest promoter and music venue, and in return they control the live music Industry.<br />
  3. 3. Warner Music Group:<br />Warner Music Group is the third largest business group and family of record labels in the recording industry, making it one of the big four record companies. WMG was also known as Warner Bros Records .Warner Music or Warner Bros Records was founded in 1958 and for most of its existence it was one of a group of labels owned and operated by larger parent corporations. Warner Bros Records was eventually sold to Seven Arts Production in 1967. <br />During the 1970s, the Warner group built up a commanding position in the music industry. In 1970, it bought Elektra for $10 million, bringing in leading rock acts.   4. 4. Universal Music Group<br />Universal Music Group is an American based music group and is the largest in the music industry, therefore being a part of the ‘Big four’. It is the largest due to its strong market share and its multitude of global operations. Universal Music was once the music company attached to film studio Universal Pictures. <br />The company was founded in 1934, known by Decca Records.<br />The secondary headquarters is considered to be situated in New York City, in the United States. <br />UMG have assisted a lot of well-known artists, such as:<br /> <br /><br />
  5. 5. Sony Music Entertainment:<br />Sony Music Entertainment is a global recorded music company. The company boasts a vast catalog that comprises some of the most important recordings in history. It is home to premier record labels representing music from every genre.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Sony Music entertainment assists a lot of artists and TV programs. By the well-known artists above, such as Beyoncé, Foster the people and Michael Jackson, it shows how large SME actually is. <br />

EMI Music Publishing:<br />EMI Music Publishing is the fourth largest Music Company in the recording industry and it is also a British company.<br />EMI Music Publishing was founded in 1931 as the electrical and Music industry. EMI stands apart from the other 3 big four, due to its headquarters not located in New York City, the big apple, but in England, London.<br />EMI Music is one of the world’s leading music companies, home to some of the most successful and best known recording artists.<br />Artists that have worked with EMI are:<br />Janet Jackson<br />The Beatles<br />Thirty seconds to Mars<br />Today EMI Music has agreements with hundreds of digital partners to distribute there music across the globe, covering a huge variety of digital music business models and ideas.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />
