  2. 2. Congratulations! You have just graduated from University and you’ve been offered a graduate job with a large company in Glasgow. You have just finished a skills apprenticeship and you’ve been offered a full time job with the firm. or
  3. 3. Salary <ul><li>Your starting salary is £20,000 per annum. </li></ul><ul><li>Gross income per month is £1,667. </li></ul><ul><li>After tax your net income is £1,300. </li></ul><ul><li>You have just received your first pay check and you’ll continue to be paid on the last day of each month. </li></ul>
  4. 4. New Home <ul><li>More great news, you’ve just found a flat to rent in Bearsden. </li></ul><ul><li>It costs £550 per month </li></ul>
  5. 5. Bills <ul><li>Unfortunately, you have some bills to pay: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Gas & Electricity - £75 a month </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Council Tax - £87.19 a month </li></ul></ul>
  6. 6. Travel <ul><li>You need to get the train to work each day. </li></ul><ul><li>The cheapest way to travel by public transport is to get a Zone Card. </li></ul><ul><li>This costs £57.20 a month. </li></ul><ul><li>If you wish to cycle it is free, but you must first buy a bike, helmet & lights costing £175. </li></ul>

Shopping <ul><li>Your food and household shopping will come to £40 a week. </li></ul><ul><li>You should deduct this amount weekly from your budget. </li></ul><ul><li>Other shopping costs (clothes, music etc) will occur randomly. You will be informed of what you need to spend through the Glow group. </li></ul>

Your Budget <ul><li>You need to make your own copy of your budget and update it each month. </li></ul><ul><li>If you want to be able to access it from home, you can keep a copy in My Glow. </li></ul><ul><li>First, download the blank budget from Glow and add in the figures for March. </li></ul><ul><li>Once completed, you can upload it to Glow – make sure you put it in the March Budgets folder. </li></ul>
