    Summary
  • The lifecycle of a mobile app
I have a really cool idea for a mobile app!
Sounds cool! I think we should start with iPhone first, since it’s the most popular platform.
It looks like our iPhone app is the next big thing!
    an iPhoneapp is born
    The result…
    A few months later …
Yeah, but we cover only 20% of the market! Lets do it for Android as well…
Ok… so lets developWP7 & BlackBerry versions while we’re at it.
  • A genetically mutated iPhone app on all other mobile platforms.

  • Mashable app
Both apps look more or less the same oniPhone & Android

    push notifications
    • Very subtle
    • Sometimes easy to miss
    • Similar to Android
    • Unique graphic element, attracts the user attention
  • widgets
    • Doesn’t exist in iOS (might be in iOS 5)
    • Very rich world, allow user interaction
    • Some apps are only widget based.
    • Almost all apps have a widget representation.

    • No user interaction, but widgets are
    animated & dynamic.

    Summary
  • Summary
Don’t create a mutation of your iPhone app,re-think your app for every platform.
Each platform offers new opportunities, not everything is done right on the iPhone.
Always make sure you understand the platform from a user perspective, use it for at least a month!
This is just the tip of the iceberg: multiple devices, tablets, web apps, etc …
