The Nothing But Nets
Campaign
JCI in partnership with
the United Nations Foundation (UNF)

Background
In 2003, JCI adopted the resolution to support
the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
In 2004, JCI in Africa and the Middle East
decided to also focus on projects and activities
related to MDGs 6 (Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria
and other diseases).

Introduction
On March 2008, JCI and UNF enter into a
partnership to support the Nothing But Nets
Campaign dedicated to saving lives by
preventing malaria.
The partnership focuses on the purchase and
distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Treated
Nets (LLINs), or simply bed nets, as well as
educate children and families on their proper
use.

Objectives
a) Raise money to purchase bed nets and
distribute to children under the age of five;
b) Educate children and their communities on
the correct use of bed nets; and,
c) Provide an opportunity to JCI members to get
involved on fighting against malaria in their
communities.

Target
Purchase of 1,000,000 bed nets
by 2015.

How can I participate?
a) Create a local bed net awareness project

b) Buy a bed net now (US$10.00)
All donations will be used exclusively to
purchase bed nets, transport them to Africa,
distribute them to children and educate children
and communities on their use.

c) Start fundraising as an individual or team
Sign up as a individual fundraiser recruiting
your friends, family and co-workers to help
support you in raising money for bed nets to
prevent malaria in Africa.
Sign up as a team captain. Become a team
captain, then invite people to join your team.
Each team member asks friends, family, co-
workers, or sponsors to support your
fundraising.

d) Become a team member
Sign up as a team member on an established
team. Find a Netraiser team by searching for a
team captain or team name.
Sign up and start fundraising.

e) Bring the Nothing But Nets Campaign to
your Community
The Campaign is powered by you, passionate
people and communities. Everyone has the
power to help save lives, and the toolkit offers
resources to get you started.
