  • The things that surrounds us have their purpose like our environment. We can benefit from wind because it can also produce energy to generate electricity through the use of a wind turbines that acts as a tool in transforming the wind into energy which is only free. We gain positive result out of it but nothing was taken from us.

Wind Presentation Transcript

  • 1. Wind Energy Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących nr7 in Katowice
  • 2. Wind energy
    • What is wind energy?
    • Humans have used wind energy to power machinery in windmils for hundreds of years. Today, electricty companies are building wind turbines to make electricity for homes, schools and factories.
  • 3. Advantages of wind energy
    • It is a renewable from of energy, which means it will never run out.
    • Wind energy is clean. It causes no pollution.
    • The land on which turbines are built can still be used for farming.
    • It costs no more than coal energy and is cheaper than nuclear energy.
  • 4. Possible disadvantages
    • Some people are concerned about noise, although wind turbines are quieter than many people think.
    • Wind turbines do not work in very weak or very strong winds.
    • Some people think that wind farms spoil the look of the landscape, although others disagree this is a matter of opinion.
  • 5. Experiment with wind energy.
    • Join rotor blades with dynamo.
    • Connect bulb with dynamo.
    • Use vaccum cleaner to blow on your rotor blades.
    • Observe bulb.
  • 6. Conclusions:
    • Bulb lights on.
    • Wind has got kinetic energy. There is a possibility to transform the kinetic energy into the electricity.
  • 7. The device that makes wind energy transforms into electricity is:
    • Wind turbine
    • Microwave
    • PV cells
  • 8. Check your answer.
    • True, wind turbine transforms the wind power into the electricity
    • False, microwave is used to heat meals
    • False, PV cells are used to get the energy from the sun.
  • 9. Does wind turbine produce CO 2
    • Yes
    • No
    • Only if the wind is strong
  • 10. Check your answer.
    • False, wind turbines are absolutely environmentaslly friendly.
    • True, wind turbines do not produce CO 2
    • False, strong current stops the production of electricity.
  • 11. Since when the wind energy has been used to electricity production:
    • One does not use the wind energy because it does not exist.
    • The wind energy has been used for many years.
    • The wind energy has been used since the ancient times.
  • 12. Check your answer.
    • False, the experiment shows that the wind energy undoubtfully exists.
    • True, the Netherlands are famous for its landscape full of various wind turbines.
    • False, there was no electricity in the ancient times.
  • 13. Thank you for your attention. Created by: Marcin Kurka and Tomasz Świątkowski. (Rodimus) (Vierra)
