        • Each time you are starting a fresh instance from scratch
          • AMI tools are bundled in the image for re-bundling
        • SSH into the image
          • ssh -i <path to private key> ubuntu@<amazon machine name>
        • Always want to update the image to the latest patch level
          • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
        • Screen is your best friend!
        • Use Tasksel to add new preconfigured options
          • LAMP, SAMBA, CUPS, etc
        • Or just add packages you wish to add
