“Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to
try him: so We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight.
We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful
(rests on his will).”

their own souls/selves).”
(Qur’an: ar-Ra’d: 13: 11)

““That is because Allah would not change a favour which He hadThat is because Allah would not change a favour which He had
bestowed upon a people (bestowed upon a people (LAM YA-KUN -MU-GHAI-YIRAN-NI’-MATANLAM YA-KUN -MU-GHAI-YIRAN-NI’-MATAN))

As children of Adam, we were created with a noble destinyAs children of Adam, we were created with a noble destiny
capable of surpassing even the angels. Yet, Allah’s Plan and Justicecapable of surpassing even the angels. Yet, Allah’s Plan and Justice
requires us to prove ourselves to be deserving of this honour.requires us to prove ourselves to be deserving of this honour.
Allah has created us in the best of mould, having that potential toAllah has created us in the best of mould, having that potential to
be the best. Yet Allah has equipped within us a free-will, for it is upbe the best. Yet Allah has equipped within us a free-will, for it is up
to man to decide whether to be the best or otherwise.to man to decide whether to be the best or otherwise.

We are not “We are not “compelledcompelled ” to be the best, for we have been given” to be the best, for we have been given
the free-will to make decision and with it the personal responsibility.the free-will to make decision and with it the personal responsibility.
Accompanying every upward movement is also that risk of falling.Accompanying every upward movement is also that risk of falling.
Thus, if the trust is betrayed and the responsibility abused, thenThus, if the trust is betrayed and the responsibility abused, then
there will be the diminishing of man’s status to become the lowestthere will be the diminishing of man’s status to become the lowest
of the low. What man decides to do – determine within him (of the low. What man decides to do – determine within him (SELFSELF),),

And much of the favours from Allah are accorded to mankind forAnd much of the favours from Allah are accorded to mankind for
which if they reciprocate with gratitude they will gain more benefitwhich if they reciprocate with gratitude they will gain more benefit

““And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are gratefulAnd [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful
((SHA-KAR-TUMSHA-KAR-TUM) , I will surely increase you [in favour]; but if you) , I will surely increase you [in favour]; but if you
deny (deny (KA-FAR-TUMKA-FAR-TUM), indeed, My punishment is severe.”), indeed, My punishment is severe.”

Yet, mankind must learnt from the Adamic (Yet, mankind must learnt from the Adamic (FIFITwTwRAHRAH) innocence) innocence
and inclination towards being shameful, remorseful leading toand inclination towards being shameful, remorseful leading to
repentance – submitting to the Guidance through Allah’s messagerepentance – submitting to the Guidance through Allah’s message

Much has to be learnt from the narration of the Qur’an regardingMuch has to be learnt from the narration of the Qur’an regarding
the story of the fall from grace of Adam (‘the story of the fall from grace of Adam (‘alayhis-salamalayhis-salam) due to the) due to the
enmity of Iblis (enmity of Iblis (la’-natullaahi ‘alayla’-natullaahi ‘alay) towards him and towards all of) towards him and towards all of
his descendants. Many may have overlooked or ignored the Adamichis descendants. Many may have overlooked or ignored the Adamic
traits shown in this saga. Traits which we are commanded totraits shown in this saga. Traits which we are commanded to
preserve.preserve.

““Thereupon Adam received words [of guidance] from hisThereupon Adam received words [of guidance] from his
Sustainer, andSustainer, and He accepted his repentanceHe accepted his repentance: for, verily, He: for, verily, He
alone is the-Acceptor of Repentance, the Dispenser ofalone is the-Acceptor of Repentance, the Dispenser of

[For although] We did say, "Down with you all from this[For although] We did say, "Down with you all from this
[state][state]," there shall, none the less, most certainly come," there shall, none the less, most certainly come

Amongst the guidance from Allah, apart from showing theAmongst the guidance from Allah, apart from showing the
upward path of elevation is the warning to man regarding the pitfallsupward path of elevation is the warning to man regarding the pitfalls
which man must strive to avoid.which man must strive to avoid.
Due to the Adamic innocence, Man must also be forewarned ofDue to the Adamic innocence, Man must also be forewarned of
their enemies amongst Allah’s other creation and to learn of theirtheir enemies amongst Allah’s other creation and to learn of their
plans to divert man away from the path of their Lord. Every Divineplans to divert man away from the path of their Lord. Every Divine
command, even of advising mankind not to approach or come nearcommand, even of advising mankind not to approach or come near
to, contains potential harm to his Soul. Thus the believers areto, contains potential harm to his Soul. Thus the believers are
commanded to enter (submit; surrender) fully / completely to Islam.commanded to enter (submit; surrender) fully / completely to Islam.

““O you who have attained to faith! (O you who have attained to faith! (UD-KHULUD-KHUL) Surrender) Surrender
(lit. “enter!”) yourselves wholly unto Allah, and follow(lit. “enter!”) yourselves wholly unto Allah, and follow
not (not (LAA - TAT –TA-BI-’ULAA - TAT –TA-BI-’U) Satan's footsteps, for, verily, he) Satan's footsteps, for, verily, he
is your open foe.”is your open foe.”

In the Holy Qur’an, mankind is being reminded of their

meet for thee to show arrogance here! Go forth, then: verily,
among the humiliated shalt thou be!“

garden, and eat, both of you, whatever you may wish; butgarden, and eat, both of you, whatever you may wish; but do notdo not
approach (LAA – TAQ-RA-BA) this one treeapproach (LAA – TAQ-RA-BA) this one tree, lest you become, lest you become
evildoers!”evildoers!”

““ThereuponThereupon Satan whispered unto the twoSatan whispered unto the two with a view to makingwith a view to making
them conscious of their nakedness, of which [hitherto] they hadthem conscious of their nakedness, of which [hitherto] they had
been unaware; and he said: "Your Sustainer has but forbidden youbeen unaware; and he said: "Your Sustainer has but forbidden you
this tree lest you two become [as] angels, or lest you live forever.”this tree lest you two become [as] angels, or lest you live forever.”

“And he (Iblis) swore unto them, "Verily, I am of those who wish
you well indeed!"”

““ .. and thus he (Iblis) led them on with deluding thoughts. But.. and thus he (Iblis) led them on with deluding thoughts. But
as soon as the two had tasted [the fruit] of the tree,as soon as the two had tasted [the fruit] of the tree, theythey
became conscious of their nakednessbecame conscious of their nakedness; and they began to cover; and they began to cover

their Sustainer called unto them: "Did I not forbid that treetheir Sustainer called unto them: "Did I not forbid that tree

ourselves -and unless Thou grant us forgiveness and bestow Thyourselves -and unless Thou grant us forgiveness and bestow Thy
mercy upon us, we shall most certainly be lost!“mercy upon us, we shall most certainly be lost!“

They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruptionThey said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption
therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise andtherein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and
sanctify You?"sanctify You?"
Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know."Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know."

ButBut those who reject Faith and belie Our Signsthose who reject Faith and belie Our Signs, they shall be, they shall be
Companions of the FireCompanions of the Fire; they shall abide therein."; they shall abide therein."

““Said He (Allah): "Down with you, [and be henceforth] Said He (Allah): "Down with you, [and be henceforth] enemies enemies
unto one another,unto one another, having on earth your abode and livelihood for a having on earth your abode and livelihood for a
while : there shall you live" - He added - "and there shall you die, while : there shall you live" - He added - "and there shall you die,
and thence shall you be brought forth [on Resurrection Day]!"and thence shall you be brought forth [on Resurrection Day]!"

“O CHILDREN of Adam! Indeed, We have bestowed upon you from on
high [the knowledge of making] garments to cover your nakedness,
and as a thing of beauty: but the garment of Allah – TAQWA:
consciousness (and fear of Allah) is the best of all. Herein lies a
message from Allah, so that man might take it to heart."

“O CHILDREN of Adam! Do not allow Satan to seduce you in
the same way as he caused your ancestors to be driven out
of the garden: he deprived them of their garment [TAQWA
-of God-consciousness] in order to make them aware of
their nakedness. Verily, he and his tribe are lying in wait for
you where you cannot perceive them! Verily, We have
placed [all manner of] satanic forces near unto those who
do not [truly] believe;"

wan ba-wan ba-swswee-ron bi- ’u-yuu-bi-naa,ee-ron bi- ’u-yuu-bi-naa,
            MuMutwtw--twtwali-’an ‘alaa - ‘au-ro-tinaa, ya-raa-naa huwa wa-ali-’an ‘alaa - ‘au-ro-tinaa, ya-raa-naa huwa wa-
qo-bii-luhu min hai - thu laa-na-raa-hum,qo-bii-luhu min hai - thu laa-na-raa-hum,
            Allaa-hum-ma fa - ai-yis-hu min-naa  kamaa ai-yas-tahu Allaa-hum-ma fa - ai-yis-hu min-naa  kamaa ai-yas-tahu
min romin roHH-matik,   Wa qon- nit-matik,   Wa qon- nitww-hu min-naa- kamaa qon--hu min-naa- kamaa qon-
nanatw tw - tahu min - ‘af-wik,   Wa- ba-’id bai-nanaa - wa bai-- tahu min - ‘af-wik,   Wa- ba-’id bai-nanaa - wa bai-
nahu kamaa - ba-’ad - ta – bai -nahu - wa-  bai-na - jan-nahu kamaa - ba-’ad - ta – bai -nahu - wa-  bai-na - jan-
natik,     In-naka ‘a-laa - kul-li shai - ’inq - qo-deer.natik,     In-naka ‘a-laa - kul-li shai - ’inq - qo-deer.

DU’ADU’A
     “     “O Allah! You have place upon us an enemy who can see our O Allah! You have place upon us an enemy who can see our
privacy and our shortcomings, whereas he and his kind spy upon privacy and our shortcomings, whereas he and his kind spy upon
us from places which we are unable to see them.us from places which we are unable to see them.
            O Allah! Disappoint their hopes towards us, just as You have made O Allah! Disappoint their hopes towards us, just as You have made
them disappointed in hoping to get Your Blessings.them disappointed in hoping to get Your Blessings.
            Make them despair (in attaining their plans) towards us, just as Make them despair (in attaining their plans) towards us, just as
You made them despair from seeking Your Forgiveness.You made them despair from seeking Your Forgiveness.
              Keep them away (distance) from us, just as You made them to be Keep them away (distance) from us, just as You made them to be
far-away (distance) from Your Paradise.far-away (distance) from Your Paradise.
                Verily, You (O Allah) is Most Powerful over everything.”Verily, You (O Allah) is Most Powerful over everything.”

“... and [so,] whenever they commit a shameful deed, they are wont
to say, "We found our forefathers doing it," and, “Allah has enjoined
it upon us." Say: "Behold, never does Allah enjoin deeds of
abomination. Would you attribute unto Allah something of which
you have no knowledge?”

“Say: "My Sustainer has [but] enjoined the doing of what is right (QISTw) ;
and [He desires you to] put your whole being into every act of worship,
and to call (WAD-’U-HU – supplicate) unto Him, sincere (MUKH- LI-SEEN) in
your faith in Him alone (LAHUD-DEEN). As it was He who brought you into
being in the first instance, so also [unto Him] you will return:”

““... some [of you] He will have graced with His guidance, whereas, for some a ... some [of you] He will have graced with His guidance, whereas, for some a
straying from the right path will have become unavoidable: for, behold, they straying from the right path will have become unavoidable: for, behold, they
will have will have ** taken [their own] evil impulses for their masters in preference to taken [their own] evil impulses for their masters in preference to
AllahAllah, thinking all the while that they have found the right path!”, thinking all the while that they have found the right path!”

* i.e. “ surely they took the Shaitans for guardians beside Allah”

Much can be learnt from the above revelation. That Allah’s justiceMuch can be learnt from the above revelation. That Allah’s justice
is for all of His creatures. But to ensure that mankind is not deceived,is for all of His creatures. But to ensure that mankind is not deceived,
the guidance also exposes these other factors which seek thethe guidance also exposes these other factors which seek the
downfall of man.downfall of man.
Yet, Allah assures us that these malevolent force has no controlYet, Allah assures us that these malevolent force has no control
over man unless man allows themselves to be seduced. Althoughover man unless man allows themselves to be seduced. Although
there may be incitement, yet man must be responsible himself sincethere may be incitement, yet man must be responsible himself since
they are amply equipped with faculties which are quite capable ofthey are amply equipped with faculties which are quite capable of

share his faith: their light will spread rapidly before them,
and on their right; [and] they will pray: "O our Sustainer!
Cause this our light to shine for us forever, and forgive us
our sins: for, verily, Thou hast the power to will anything!“

O Allah! There is none who can withholdO Allah! There is none who can withhold
what You send, nor (can anyone) send whatever You withholdwhat You send, nor (can anyone) send whatever You withhold

Neither can they guide whom You leave astrNeither can they guide whom You leave astray
Nor can they lead astray whom You have guided

Neither can they give whatever You deprive,Neither can they give whatever You deprive,

O Allah! Allow us to die as Muslims, live as MuslimsO Allah! Allow us to die as Muslims, live as Muslims
and join us with the ranks of the righteous ones,and join us with the ranks of the righteous ones,
