By justice, we have the terms “ qistw ” and “ ‘adalah ” with their profound significations quite different from the English word “justice” generally understood.   12. 12. “ Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing--(not even) mentioned?― Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: so We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight.   24. 24. “ DO MEN THINK that on their [mere] saying, “We have attained to faith”, they will be left to themselves, and will not be put to a test?   28. 28. <ul><li>The key to succeed in this test as well as to deserve achieving further increase of bestowals from Allah. </li></ul><ul><li>yet how does one become grateful? What are the important criteria? </li></ul><ul><li>Acknowledge and extol praises of the true giver, Allah Who alone is God, the Bestower of all favours. Avoid committing “ SHIRK ”. </li></ul><ul><li>Learn the value of what is given, appreciating them constantly, do not take any of these favours for granted. </li></ul><ul><li>Utilize what is given in accordance to what may please the Giver (i.e. do not abuse the gift), so as not to cause His wrath to befall us. </li></ul>CRITERIA All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  29. 29. “ Begin with what Allah begins with” ( Hadith of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w .) “ O you who have believed, do not put [yourselves] before Allah and His Messenger but (be conscious of and ) fear Allah.   31. 31. “ Allah’s pleasure (acceptance) is in the pleasure (acceptance) of your parents (towards you), and Allah’s displeasure is in the displeasure of your parents (towards you).” ( Hadith reported in Subulus Salam narrated from the Prophet s.a.w. by ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn ‘Ash r.a .) And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah. And dutiful to his parents , and he was not a disobedient tyrant.” ( Qur’an: Maryam: 19: 12-14 )

And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive. And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.” ( Qur’an: Maryam: 19: 30-32 )

He was asked: “Are your parents alive?” He replied: “Yes!” The Prophet s.a.w. said to him : “Then go and be with them and Jihad (exert service towards them) .” ( Hadith reported by Bukhary and Muslim )

Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour.” ( Qur’an: al-Isra: 17:23 )

  47. 47. <ul><li>To give a sinister look at them (especially when in anger), including other subtle signs of displeasure towards them; </li></ul><ul><li>To consider (even in thought) oneself to be equal to them; </li></ul><ul><li>Arrogance and disrespectful by refusing to kiss their hands; </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  48. 48. <ul><li>Being ashamed to let others know that they are his parents, especially when he has become accomplished and has status; </li></ul><ul><li>The worst is to say to them even “ aah! ” or such expression of disgust, or any other acts which are meant to hurt their feelings, to demean, to despise, to degrade etc. to make them loose their respect and dignity. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)

All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011) Abu Bakar r.a. narrated the Rasulullah s.a.w. once said: “ Shall I inform you all of three of the greatest sins ( al-kabaa-ir )?” We replied: “Certainly O Messenger of Allah”. He then said: “To commit ‘ Shirk ’ (setting up partners to Allah), to be disobedient towards parents , and to speak falsehood or bear witness to falsehood.” ( Hadith reported by Bukhary and Muslim )

  51. 51. <ul><li>When parent speaks, to listen and do not interrupt until he/she has finished what he/she wish to convey.   52. 52. <ul><li>To kiss their hands whenever required. </li></ul><ul><li>To preserve their good names, their honourable status and their properties. </li></ul><ul><li>To honour them by granting them their requests. </li></ul><ul><li>Always involve them in your consultations of matters. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  53. 53. <ul><li>Always make Du’a (supplicate) for their well-being and seek Allah’s forgiveness for them. </li></ul><ul><li>When they receive guests, be ready nearby to serve, just in case your parents need your assistance regarding them. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  54. 54. <ul><li>To always do things which will please them, even though they did not request. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not irritate them with being loud in speech, or using of electronic devises etc. in their presence. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not become too involve in whatever you are doing as to be seen or be regarded as ignoring them. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  55. 55. <ul><li>Do not leave the house or leave their presence without taking leave from them (i.e. seek their permission) </li></ul><ul><li>Do not disturb them in their rest or sleep. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not put or exceed others (wife or children; work or hobby etc.) in preference over them. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  56. 56. <ul><li>Do not criticise them when their opinion may not be agreeable to you. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not laugh in their presence, lest they may misinterpret that, as your mocking or making fun of them. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not begin eating before them, unless they have permitted. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  57. 57. <ul><li>Do not stretch out to take food before them, when dining together with them. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not lie down, slouch or sleep when they are sitting with you, unless they permit. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  58. 58. <ul><li>Do not stretch out your feet at them or in front of them. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not enter before them, or walk ahead of them. If need to pass in front of them, to respectfully seek their permission. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)
  59. 59. <ul><li>Be quick to respond to their call – and response with “ lab-bayk ! ” (meaning – “ Yes! at your service ”). </li></ul><ul><li>To honour and respect all their friends, even after they (your parents) have passed away - i.e. to continue showing friendship with their friends. </li></ul>All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011)

  61. 61. <ul><li>After they have passed away, always supplicate ( Du’a ) for them, as this will still benefit them. </li></ul><ul><li>Recite frequently, especially this Du’a : </li></ul>RAB-BIR – H AM-HUMAA KA-MAA ROB-BA-YAA-NEE – SWO-GHEE-RAA “ O my Lord (Allah)!
