1. Streams, springs, rivers, lakes, and waterfalls.2. Water pollution has become a problems.3. Why? Sanitation and health
The raw sewage discharged directly into nature. Industrial effluents (e.g. paper mill—toxic, anoxic—China)
Warm water pollution(equipment) Inorganic wastes: metal, mercury, cadmium, lead. Example: "In the USA, every year, 34 billion liters (60%) of the mosthazardous liquid waste that contains radioactive materials is injected directly into deepgroundwater via many ‘injection wells’. Even though the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency)said that these effluents should be injected under the deepest source of drinking water, and somepollutants have already entered underground water supplies in Florida, Texas, Ohio, andOklahoma.(Grinningplanet, 2005).
Personal-care products and household cleaning products: stain remover, hair dyes, shampoo, and toothpastes. Medicine: (eat –excrete into sewer system -- pollute)
Household garbage: garbage dump marine organism- fishes die
Pesticides and insecticide are used on lawns, roadsides plant, farm fields.(permeate soil- groundwater absorb) Example: in the Midwestern United States, a place that isfrequently dependent on groundwater for dringking sources, water utilities spend$400 million every year to treat water for just one chemical—the pesticide Atrazine."
Chemical fertilizer:(potassium -K) pollutes the underground water The excrement from livestock(Aquatic plants grow in the water in excess level of nutrients)
Water pollution has become a global problem. It has many causes pollute the water: industrial pollution, domestic pollution source, and agriculture pollution are the basic reasons.
