What Can I Do? - Presentation Transcript

  1. i'm just 1 of 6 billion on earth its still your home, and your job what can I do?
  2. In that order. Really really consider if the distance warrants the next step up. Bonus:burn some calories! walk.cycle.drive
  3. or, in the Indian context, take the company bus, or even bike-pool. car-pool.atleast
  4. i'll turn that tap off unless necessary (esp while brushing, shaving) when on, a trickle IS enough don't let it drip , ever on tap demand
  5. bath(tub) == 10-15 buckets 7 min shower == 5-7 buckets bucket == bucket Short showers might work, sometimes bath?shower?bucket!
  6. Household appliances continue to consume between 5-15% in the sleep mode too - that adds up to a HUGE carbon footprint for all of us. no standby mode
  7. Put a brick inside your cistern - you'll see the flush still works as well, and saves thousands of litres of water every year. Cheap. Effective. Eh ? brick in the flush
  8. I was appalled to see the size of the dustbin in some parts of the world. We can ALL dispose much lesser. Throw out garbage thrice a week, not daily. a smaller dustbin
  9. May not work for all, but can be done in the smallest house. 75% of your waste is organic! Compost it, create good topsoil, reduce "garbag e" http://dailydump. org Compost
  10. "Recycling" has given us all a license to freely use-n-throw. Isn't reuse way better - given that disposables are often plastic - recycling is not 100% efficient and uses energy anyhow. Reuse, not recycle
  11. When you're travelling, maybe yes. Else : Keep Your Water Pure and Simp le bottled water = NO
  12. CFLs consume a fifth of the electricity that incandescent bulbs do. They last forever, and are NOT expensive. Switch this week! plus, you DO NOT need those cluster of 4 bulbs over your bathroom sink. Switch to CFLs
  13. Let things come to room temperature before you either refrigerate them or heat them after you take them out of the fridge. fridge<>keep<>heat
  14. Well. Just start one small thing today . These become nice habits real quick. Thanks in advance ! Lemme make a plan
