Details virtual machine • Single server Zarafa 7.0.0 instance • Keyboard layout: US • Login account: root/root • 3 mailboxes with data already available on system – John/john – Mary/mary – Steve/stevewww.zarafa.com
Archiving strategy • The Zarafa archiver can be used for two purposes: – Reducing storage on primary server and eliminating pst files – Keep history on all incoming and outgoing emails • Choose the strategy before further deploying the Zarafa Archiverwww.zarafa.com
Creating of archiver store • Every user who will use the Zarafa Archiver need to be coupled to an archive mailbox. • Multiple users can be coupled to one archive mailbox or every user can get a own archive mailbox • Create a new non-active user called archive with the zarafa-admin toolwww.zarafa.com
Couple user to archive mailbox • Couple the user John to the archive mailbox with the zarafa-archiver command • Please use the --no-folder option when coupling every user to a individual archive mailbox • By default the user will have read-only permissions on his archive! Please use the -w option to give an user “Owner” permissions on his archive store.www.zarafa.com
Configure archive steps • Open /etc/zarafa/archiver.cfg to enable the different archive stages and configure the time setting • Set the loglevel to 6 for later debugging • Normally configure the SSL certificates if setup contains multiple server nodes. Not necessary in this lab.www.zarafa.com
Archive run • Execute the Zarafa-archiver for user john • Check the logfile for the different archive stageswww.zarafa.com
Permissions synchronisation • By default a user has read-only permissions on his archive mailbox • With the za-aclsync tool permissions set on the primary mailbox can be synchronised to the archive mailboxwww.zarafa.com
Test permissions sync • Give mary secretary permissions on the Inbox of John • Run the za-aclsync tool • Check in the archive mailbox if the permissions are correctly synchronisedwww.zarafa.com
Perform automatic archive runs • To run the Zarafa-Archiver every night or week, set a cronjob to perform this task 01*** /usr/bin/zarafa-archiver -A > /dev/null 2>&1www.zarafa.com
Where to get it? • The Zarafa-Archiver can be downloaded from the Zarafa Portal only at the moment • To use the Archiver an additional subscription is required. This subscription allows you to have a cluster with a Zarafa-server and an archive nodewww.zarafa.com
