    • - My name is Daniel Zane.
    • - I started school in the 1990s in
    • Hawai’i nei
    • - I graduated from Saint Louis
    • High School in 2007
    • - I first went to college at the
    • University of Hawai’i at Mānoa in
    • Fall of ’ 07
    • - When I finish my degree, I hope to
    • become a Band Director for
    • high school band
  • 3. … is the use of technology that enhances the quality of education given to the students. The technology used is not restricted to just computers, it can encompass all forms of technology to supplement lessons. My definition of educational technology

  • 5. Kindergarten technology
    • “ Dinosaur” Apple desktop computers that took years to boot up
    • VHS tapes
    • Big, bulky televisions with small screens
    • Overhead projectors
  • 6. High school technology
    • Computers were faster and could handle heavier usage
    • Attendance taken through computer
    • Projectors connected with the computer
    • DVDs took the place of VHS
    • T.V.s got bigger screens and smaller than their “dinosaur” counterparts
  • 7. College technology
    • Almost everyone has a laptop
    • Computers hooked to projectors mounted on the ceiling
    • Constant communication by e-mail
    • Homework turned in online, via turnitin.com
    • Smartboards
  • 8. A vivid technology learning experience
    • Using KidPix in Elementary school => coloring made easy
    • Starting to use the internet for research instead of the library
  • 9. A technology I want to use in my classroom
    • Projector & Smartboard to replace dry erase board(s)
    • iPad or other reader instead of sheet music
  • 10. My vision of the classroom of the future
    • Every child with access to a computer/laptop
    • Teaching via Skype or other form of internet communication
    • iPad takes the place of textbooks
  • 11. A challenge for teaching
    • Budget cuts for arts programs
    • No funding for expensive equipment
    • Extensive training for teacher competency on equipment
  • 12. Words of wisdom
