I as the teacher will introduce the
lesson based on “dealing with trauma”
by handing out a case study of
Ntombi’s life story to every learner
within the classroom which they will
have to read.
The learners will respond by reading
the case study based on Ntombi’s life
story to gain insight and an
understanding of the story.

Definition of trauma:
I as the teacher will ask the learners to define
trauma
The learners will respond by providing a definition of
trauma.
The learners will respond by observing the
information as well as listening to my explanation.
The learners will respond by listing the different types
of trauma whilst explaining them.

information as well as listening to me explaining the
information . In addition with regard to the chart the
learners will respond by examining the chart
carefully.
Thereafter i will put up a transparency with the
correct definition of trauma which I will explain.
2) The different types of trauma:
I will ask the learners what are the different
types of trauma and to explain any of them.
Thereafter i will put up a transparency which will
include the different types of trauma including
the explanations of each one. I will also put up a
wall chart to illustrate the different types of
trauma which will include relevant images and
additional information.

3) Risk factors that increase the
vulnerability of trauma:
I as the teacher will ask the learners what are some
of the risk factors that they know which contribute to
increasing the vulnerability of trauma.
Thereafter I will put up a transparency which will
include the relevant information regarding the risk
factors that increase the vulnerability of trauma
which i will also be expanding on.
The learners will respond by providing some of the
risk factors which they know that contribute to the
increasing vulnerability of trauma.
The learners will respond by observing the
information on the board whilst listening attentively to
me explaining the content as well.

i as the teacher will ask the learners what are the
physical, emotional and scholastic problems that
trauma can impose on a person.
The learners will respond by giving some physical,
emotional and scholastic problems that trauma can
impose on a person.
Thereafter i will provide the correct additional
information on a transparency based on the
physical, emotional and scholastic problems that
trauma can impose upon a person in which i will be
elaborating on.
The learners will respond by observing the
information on the board whilst listening to
me explaining or elaborating on the content.

professional help when dealing with
trauma?:
I will ask the learners where can a person seek
professional help when dealing with trauma?.
Thereafter i will provide more information to
them as to where a person can seek
professional help should they face any traumatic
experiences that needs to be dealt with. I will
write the correct information on the chalkboard
regarding the places/institutions and contact
details where one can get help and i will allow
the learners to take it down in their books.
The learners will respond by naming some places
where a person can seek professional help when
dealing with trauma.
The learners will respond by observing the
information that i will write on the board whilst writing
the information down in their workbooks.

I will instruct my learners to complete a
classroom activity in which they are
required to write one traumatic
experience that they may have
encountered during their lifespan
together with the emotions which they
experienced therein.
The learners will respond by completing
the classroom activity therefore by
writing one of their personal traumatic
experiences together with the emotions
that they felt.
8. CONCLUSION OF THE LESSON:

I as the teacher will conclude my lesson by
summing up the content which i have thought
during the lesson.
The learners will respond by listening attentively.
Thereafter i will ask the learners if they have any
questions regarding the content that was thought
or if they are unfamiliar with anything.

that i will be providing.
The learners will respond by taking notes of the
homework which is required of them to complete.
I will answer the questions that the learners will
ask me.
Lastly i will provide the learners wit the
homework in which they will be required to
construct a poster based on “Dealing with
trauma” which must include all the relevant
information as well as including images and
colour.
