  2. 2. Introduction Historically mobile networks have been built to support voice, text and data. With such a percentage of video, LTE will need to evolve into an optimised ‘Video Distribution Network’ It is forecasted that in 2018 monthly global data traffic will surpass 1.5 billion gigabytes. We would like increased support for LTE Broadcast throughout the Mobile video and TV industry. We need to drive device density to realise the true potential of this technology

Summary 2014 – When mobile video becomes an ecosystem Speaking as a leader in 4G technology EE feel that industry discussion, knowledge share and universal backing of new technology are the key requirements for a successful mobile video industry 8 • Before the industry can monetise mobile video we need to ensure the user experience stays great • Working in isolation can have negative impacts on the customer experience and cost to serve • An end to end understanding of mobile video technologies will lead to greater innovation from all parties • Use the combined weight of the whole industry to back mutually beneficial technology e.g. LTE-Broadcast • Operators will need a comprehensive ‘tool kit’ of technologies to ensure mobile video does not erode revenue • Globally congested mobile networks do not benefit anyone
