    -uria: urine condition.
    • For example Polyuria.
    -dipsia: Thirst,
    • for example polydipsia.
    I will proceed to talk about these conditions( polyuria and polydipsia)
  • 2. Polyuria
    It is a condition of excessive production and passage of urine.
    Increase production and passage of urine may also be termed diuresis.
    Causes of polyuria
    Diabetes mellitus
    It may be due to various chemical substances like caffeine and alcohol.
  • 3. Causes
    Increase fluid intake especially water.
    Diabetes insipidus
    Psychogenic polydipsia.
    Altitude diuresis.
    Hypercalcaemia
    Hyperthyroidism.
    High dozes of riboflavin (vit B2)
    Interstitial nephritis
    Pregnancy
    Hypoxia
    Acromegaly
  • 4. Causes
    Urinary tract infection ( UTI)
    Prostate condition
    Hypokalemia
    Acute tubular necrosis
    Polydipsia
  • 5. Some possible treatments
    Insulin
    Glipizide
    Metformin
    Pioglitazone
    Antibiotics
    Desmopressine
    Carbamazepin
    Corticosteriod
  • 6. Note

    Urine test.
    Radiological investigation
  • 8. Polydipsia
    -dipsia -thirst- polydipsia.
    It is a condition of excessive thirst accompanied by excessive fluid intake.
    Causes
    The following medical conditions are some of the possible causes of polydipsia.
    Diabetes insipidus
    Anxiety
    Emotional shock
  • 9. Causes
    Fever
    Head injury
    Rigors
    dehydration,.
    Diarrhea
    Diabetes mellitus
    Hypokalemia
    Stress
  • 10. Diagnostic Test
    Child behavior- home testing.
    Cold and flu.
    Nerve neuropathy.
    Brain and neurological disorders.
  • 11. Possible treatments
    Treatment should be related to the cause. Some possible treatments are;
    Glipizide
    Glyburide
    Metformine
    Pioglitazone
    Antibiotics
    Corticosteriod.
  • 12. Note
