The need to emphasise <ul><li>Remember: this Events Diary contains no 'categories' </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>Some events can be judged 'important' by you and you can emphasise their existence by: </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Highlighting them in the Diary </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Making them appear on the Home Page and other traffic areas </li></ul></ul><ul><li>What is more, you can: </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Do this very easily and intuitively </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Do it in 3 different places </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Do it on event creation, or whenever it suits you </li></ul></ul>
  • 3. Three ways to edit emphasis <ul><ul><li>as you create or edit individual events </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>as you create a series of events </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>in listing review mode when you apply filters </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Examples: </li></ul>
  • 4. 1.Check the box when you add or edit a single event
  • 5. 2. When first creating a series ...
  • 6. 3. By (un)clicking on the stars in review mode. i.e. there is no need to edit an event to change status
  • 7. Adding emphasis <ul><li>The resulting emphasis can be seen in 2 places </li></ul><ul><ul><li>All Diary views (this week, this month etc) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Panels on traffic areas, home page etc </li></ul></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>Examples: </li></ul>

  • 9. Featured events appear on home page panel. Ooops many 'Music in the park' events for July? So hide them for a while ...

Key Takeaway Points <ul><li>This Events Diary has no &quot;categories&quot; </li></ul><ul><li>Adding and removing emphasis is very easy to do </li></ul><ul><li>Each event/day is a separate entry(!) </li></ul><ul><li>You can change highlight the first day of an exhibition and possibly change its title, no need to highlight every single day </li></ul><ul><li>You can add emphasis just a few days before it takes place </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>Promote your own events, or those the council is funding </li></ul><ul><li>Don't overuse emphasis, keep it a secret as long as you can(!) </li></ul>
