2. Speaking in Newbridge, Co-founder and CEO Des Swan said, “We are thrilled to be
shortlisted for such a prestigious European award so quickly after our launch in May.
We spent 18 months creating and developing a packaging concept that would best
communicate the Boost Buddy brand values, yet at the same time is practical,
functional and sustainable. For a start-up business to receive such industry
affirmation with its first product is very rewarding.”
Boost Buddy is a new brand supporting long term health and well-being, particularly
for 18 to 34 year olds. Boost Buddy’s first product is its version of the multivitamin,
the first of its kind in the world and very much on trend in personalised nutrition. From
12 unique formulae the customer selects 4 to create their own personalized weekly
pack that best supports their lifestyle. It is delivered in 100% recyclable packs the
size of an iPhone for less than €1 a day, hassle free and not a plastic tub in sight.
“Boost Buddy offers an Irish manufactured personalized multivitamin with proven
health claims in safe dosages, in truly innovative recyclable packaging. We hope our
fresh approach will encourage people to take a greater interest in their health and
well-being and appreciate the importance of nutrition over the long term.
My co-founder John Munnelly and I have been working on this concept since
November 2011 and we are on a mission. Without the support of family and friends
we would not be on that shortlist today, so this is a great boost for us all, no pun
intended,” Swan concluded.
All of Boost Buddy’s products are made in Ireland in Co. Mayo and are dispatched to
international markets from Newbridge. The company launched in the UK with a TV
advertising campaign on the Channel 4 network and sponsors British surfing
champion Laura Crane. It is about to formally launch itself on the Irish, German and
Spanish markets in the next two months.
The award ceremony takes place in Dubrovnik on 19th September.
